There were lines to be said. The correct string of words, the right pacing. You have every right. I am sorry, I am sorry. I am so happy for you. I missed you. Thank you. I am sorry. Yeah, you too.
Lup said, “You're doing it again Creech. Authorial intent. Knock it off, would ya? It makes my ears rings like a bitch.”

Summary
One of the things about a Bond Engine, as it turns out, is that bonds can’t exactly exist with just one person to anchor them.
Their echoes can, sure, and Lucretia’s frantic remembrances of her family gives enough juice to get her to relative safety, but it’s not enough. Even if food weren’t a problem, she wouldn’t be able to take off back to the stars, stay in orbit and well out of range of the towering Judges and their cannons until the Hunger descends again.
She tries, back at the start of that impossibly long year, takes off with flimsy paneling that shrieks and threatens to tear as she forces her way out of the atmosphere. She sits up there, up in the cold silence between stars, hands folded tight in thought as she tries to distract herself with planning. The Starblaster quivers, jolts, echoing and empty and barely keeping her from the void of space, and this masterwork of magic and metal has never felt so fraught.

Summary
Lucretia stops dead in the doorway when she sees it. The letters are six feet high, charcoal black; the edges of the "P" are still smoldering. For a moment she is completely empty. She can't form a single thought, she can't breathe, she's fairly certain her heart stops beating.
And when her brain restarts, all she can think is: no one here knows Lup's name.
Lup has been erased, as thoroughly as Brian or Bain or any of the other fallen Bureau employees--more so, because she’s been erased by Fisher’s child, too. No one here should know Lup's name.
So how can it be here?
--
When Lucretia finds Lup's name burned into the wall of the Bureau of Balance, it doesn't take her long to connect the dots. And once she knows where Lup is, she can't just leave her there. She has to find a way to get her out.
AU where Lucretia frees Lup early, and they team up to try to fix their mistakes, reunite their family, and save the world in the process.

Summary
“Damn, it’s really comin’ down out there, huh?” Lup muses, raising her voice to be heard above the downpour of rain — and Magnus nods along with her, grinning as he looks up at the Starblaster’s ceiling, which practically rattles from the force.
“Yeah,” he agrees, matter-of-fact, “sounds like skeletons fucking on a tin roof up there!”
*
Magnus uses a totally normal idiom, and the IPRE has a totally normal conversation.

Summary
I started writing an alternate ending/continuation to my fic You're Going to Love Me, and then I got so honry I blacked out for a week and wrote 50k words.
This starts off with an alternate ending where they *don't* have a moment of emotional catharsis followed by confessions, and then things just escalate and escalate and...
I don't know if it's enough to require a warning, but throughout this things get pretty toxic, and I had to do a lot of justifications for why these characters do a bunch of things that I don't normally think of them as being capable of doing, so it gets kind of deep in the mental/emotional stuff.
I may change it as I go, but the ending is currently goood (?) as in mostly positive, but a little bleak. It leaves on a hopeful note, but not with things quite fixed.
Enjoy!
