Alastor let out a sigh and sat back on one of the booths in this train car, Lucifer immediately walking around and sitting behind Alastor so the taller man could lay his head in his lap.
“That bad, huh?” Lucifer said with a light teasing voice, but it was gentle enough to make Alastor relax.
“This one kid keeps pissing me off.” Alastor complained tiredly, his fake smile falling off his face and just turning to a tired frown.

It would be an easy job, except it's not. Not when he has to deal with caribou, broken ice, misbehaving engineers, and his own worries that he isn't, and never will be, as good as the kids he's been assigned to protect.
