Lyrium withdrawal and the realization that he's desperately in love with the Inquisitor has left Cullen raw. Vulnerable. Nights upon nights he'd replayed the seconds, the way her fingers paused over the chessboard, vallaslin curving up with her smile like twin boughs of ivy, whether the promise of something danced in her words or solely in his lyrium-worn imagination.
"Meaning the person most likely to do well. Someone with rank," came Josephine's voice, louder this time.

The dropped end of her thought dangled in front of Cullen for a long moment before Leliana's sigh sliced the quiet.
