Summary
Jaskier is a genie that has been “freed” from his “bottle” which is bits and pieces of his lute. He isn’t truly free but enough to not actually care about being a genie. He's been traveling the world doing whatever. Upon meeting Geralt, he pretends to be a normal bard as he does with everyone but every now and then when Geralt wants something it just seems to be easier to get it. Sometimes when it’s a close call with a monster, any healing supplies are always nearby, sometimes they always have the right amount of coin, sometimes Jaskier just knows exactly what is needed for any given situation
Sometimes Jaskier and Geralt split paths and Geralt notices how his luck seems to better when his little strange bard is around.
I swear it gets so much better the further in you get

Jaskier już taki był – wesoły, beztroski, jakby wyrwany prosto z dziecięcego snu. Mienił się w słońcu tysiącem barw. Geraltowi wystarczyło jedno spojrzenie, żeby przejrzeć jego misterną iluzję. Nie podniósł srebrnego miecza tylko dlatego, że dość miał już tej śmierci, dość miał złamanych serc i krwi przelanej na darmo.
Więc Jaskier żył i miał się dobrze; a jeżeli spisywał sny Geralta w notesie, nikt nie mógł go o to oskarżyć. Na pewno nie wiedźmin, bo ten, jak raz, spał smacznie każdej następnej nocy.

Summary
When Geralt finds the djinn’s amphora and breaks it, he also breaks the spell binding the djinn to service. Jaskier is free for the first time in centuries; he could go anywhere, do anything, but the man who freed him looks so desperate for help that Jaskier can’t resist sticking around. After all, what kind of person tracks down an extremely powerful magical being to wish for a nap? Jaskier pretends that he is bound, that Geralt has three wishes. He’ll get to tag along, see more of the human world, and spend more time with the witcher. Geralt is procrastinating making the wishes; he’ll never admit it, but he likes the company and wants to put off the moment when Jaskier will leave.
