Summary
As snow slowly envelops the city of New York, William struggles with his own weakness. He and Sherlock have promised to live on together but selfishly he still wishes for there to be more between them. His thoughts are in such disarray that he is almost relieved when Billy sets them both on a last-minute assignment, to protect and deliver a young widow and her daughter to a safe house outside of the city.
The task is not as simple as it seems, instead of spending the holidays at home and at ease the two find themselves in the middle of a murderous plot, the target the very woman they are charged with protecting. The events that follow test both their dedication to one another and William's resolve to strike a new path away from bloodshed. Will their new life together come out of it intact, or in pieces?
Or, Sherlock and William's first Christmas together does not go quite as planned, but they figure it out eventually :)

William let him embrace him, he laid his head down on Sherlock's shoulder and stayed silent for a while. Sherlock felt as he let out a sigh, it was deep like it came straight from his soul. He wanted to comfort William even longer, but his friend suddenly pulled him away from himself. He looked into Sherlock's eyes and a wish sparkled in his gaze.

He’d seemed happy and determined for the first time in ages, and Sherlock regretted being so tired that only every third word had reached him.
“I’d like to make cinnamon rolls,” William said cheerfully, leaning closer to the table with his brows drawn in concentration again, “but we’ll see, Sherlock, what comes of it.”

The way those red eyes were watching him made Sherlock feel like he was being eaten alive and they had barely touched each other. How it had taken him so long to give in to this gravitational pull between them the detective had no idea.
He leaned in until their lips were almost touching, William’s lidded eyes all Sherlock could see as he spoke slowly. “You love my bad manners.”

AKA, what should've been included because what do you mean Louis and Fred were the only ones who showed outrage over William choosing to sacrifice himself so the others are spared the hatred of the British Empire? Albert's his older brother too and we saw in Chapters 62-64 how much of an impact William had on his life!
