Summary
There is a boy sitting across from Buck at the dinner table. The boy is 7, maybe 8, and this is the first time Buck tells his parents about the boy. A boy he has seen his whole life, lingering in the tall, arching doorways of the Buckley's grand home, waiting at the foot of Buck’s bed. The boy has always scared him, there is something hungry about the bags under his eyes, but the loneliness that he stares back at Buck with is the thing that makes Buck’s want to hide under his blankets. This is long before the bicycle, the skateboard, or the tree. This is before the motorbike, the football team, the running away. This is before the other ghosts. This is the first time Buck is old enough to ask about the boy in the empty dining room chair.

As someone who has always seen ghosts, Buck feels a duty to help them move on. But ghosts are not always people, and as Buck becomes a Diaz, will the haunting of Eddie's latest near death experience linger? Will being a newlywed change Buck's outlook on his role as Los Angeles' ghost whisperer?

Evan’s fingers tingled where he touched the white plastic. The rest of the boys’ hands brushed his. His mind emptied the moment he was put in the spotlight, and he frowned as he tried to think of a good question to ask. “Is there a ghost here?”
The planchette jerked under their hands. Yes.
He bit his cheek. Everyone’s eyes were on him. “What’s your name?”

“Can you please stop trying to be some kind of matchmaker from heaven or whatever? And for the love of God, stop telling me those stupid ghost jokes!” He yells, once he makes sure he’s alone and no one will think he’s gone insane.
Daniel frowns at him and pouts and in that moment he looks every inch of a seven year old about to throw a tantrum. “But that’s the best part about being dead! You’re depriving me of my inhuman rights.” He mumbles and Buck snorts, shaking his head in disbelief.
