It started innocuously – Misa, being a habitual party-goer and social drinker, begged him to try a drink as they celebrated their victory over L.
Unlike seemingly everyone else his age, Light had never felt the urge to get drunk; the idea of losing control just wasn't desirable to him. Besides, inebriation could make him reveal critical information, and L would grasp onto any mistakes with the strength of a constrictor.
But there's no more L now, is there?

Light had treated himself to some new stationery, a Montblanc fountain pen that fits so comfortably in his hand he could forget he was holding anything, and a new fast-drying ink set. He filled the pen’s ink cartridge and was about to replace it in the pen before he decided L’s name on that page was too annoying. He pressed the cartridge to the page, hard and watched the steady pool of ink bleed through the page, slowly spreading to make L’s name invisible. He had tested out crossing out, erasing, and other methods of destroying names before, and knew this would not have any effect. He wasn’t looking for one other than erasing L’s effect on him completely.
500 names later and he still couldn’t sleep. He was calmer though, and tired. Light found himself slipping into an almost sleepwalking trance. He felt like he was dreaming, watching his body act without him.
He took the notebook, went to the kitchen, turned on the gas stove, and held a corner into the flame.

Let's see if L can still win, despite being dead, or if Light will find a way to rid himself of this inconvenient spirit. -

Summary
One day L shows up as a ghost in Light’s living room. Despite being shocked at first, he quickly decides L must have defied death out of pettiness just so he could come back to annoy him.Now knowing how to send him back, all he can do is to try to keep his composure around L who is having a little too much fun with his suffering.
Dealing with L is harder than manipulating the entire world. Light missed him so much.

Summary
When Near solved the Kira case, he never once fooled himself into thinking that’d be the end of it. Shinigami could get bored anytime, drop their notebooks at any time. It’s highly likely Near would see another Kira by the end of his lifetime, however long that may be. If he were a romantic, Near would say the battle of Kira and L would become an event carrying on past lifetimes, written into the stars.
That was not an invitation for Light Yagami and L’s ghost to show up on his doorstep, though.
