    In one world, Kirarin comes home in human form. She is surprised by her brother’s waffles, but tells him they cannot compare to the ones they shared on the mountaintop so long ago. Pikario falls into despair, convinced he will never be an equal to his sister, and becomes the perfect target for a villain’s schemes.

    This is not that world.

    In this world, Kirarin never comes home. Pikario sits by his slightly burnt waffles all night, waiting for somebody who never arrives.

    (Or: Back in the ye ole days of June 2023, I wrote out a good chunk of a role reversal AU where Ciel was the general and Pikario was the one who went looking for his sibling. Ended up being put on the back burner because I didn't have a clear idea of how it was going to end. Rediscovered it tonight and liked what was written, though, so I figured I'd share what I had with the world.)
