This is a story about trauma and trust, and the capacity to forgive.
This fic is a sequel to my previous Illidan x Maiev story, Prey, and makes quite a few references to it. In *this* story, I'm going to attempt to follow some of the broad storylines from Legion, just rewritten to give Maiev and Illidan some desperately-needed character growth. They both deserve to have some good things happen to them, and I guess I'm foolish enough to attempt to do it.

Anduin couldn’t help the rush of pride that came over him when he saw that the mage had managed to capture one of the things. Sure, she seemed much smaller than the rest of them, but there was something menacing about her that suggested she could probably break the kid in half if she truly wanted to—but that didn’t keep the determined smile from the boy’s face as Anduin fought the urge to give him praise.
That didn’t mean he liked the kid, though. And he certainly didn’t want to be stuck watching out for the spell-chucker as they set out to face the Horde, even if, somewhere deep down, he trusted no one but himself with such a task.
