Summary
There are a few rules in the NHL when it comes to secondary sexes:
1. Alpha’s are prohibited from playing during their ruts, and any penalty will be assessed for undue force that comes from being an alpha.
2. Omega’s have really strict rules regarding play time, leadership roles, and their body on the ice. Omega’s aren't allowed to play during their heat, to play longer than 10 minutes, or to be captains. Any penalty on an Omega becomes a major penalty automatically, but this is only true when it can be proven that the Omega did not draw out the penalty themselves, leading to a game misconduct on the Omega if so.There are very few out Omega’s in the NHL because of the stigma that comes with being one both on and off the ice. Several of the players who do share the secondary sex hide their distinction via suppressant abuse which leads to earlier retirement for several health related issues.
Quinn Hughes is an Omega. He has been abusing his suppressants since before he was drafted to the Canucks, and the symptoms are just now catching up to him. After a mishap leads him to coming out on the ice, Quinn must face what it means to be an Omega in the sport that he has built as career excelling at.

Summary
Quinn Hughes, loving Brother, Son, Friend, Boyfriend and Teammate is what he knows his eulogy would read but see now Quinn wouldn't take the liberty of being so kind, on any day when asked to describe himself, his would go a little something like this
Selfish, Rude, Mean among a million other negative adjectives in the English language he could think up, he doesn't deserve any of what he has and if he could he'd take the first chance to jump off the nearest building that would ensure his demise, he'd take it.... if not for how he knows it would devastate his family and worst of all his boyfriend the only person convinced he's the most important person in the world and who loves him to the ends of the Earth without being under obligation to and he's the only person Quinn is convinced he's ever loved this much and he would do anything for him, including keeping himself in this misery if it means Kirill will be happy another day
Now this new season is starting to take a toll on Quinn and getting traded to the Wild is not helping, will this trade be the thing to push him off the ledge or will it be his saving grace?

Summary
Quinn and Kirill were traveling after the hockey season ended; it was their secret, and neither of them planned to tell anyone. They fell in love the first time they saw each other, and it wasn't long before they were hanging out as "friends.
Quinn was in bed at Kirill's cottage, shirtless, wearing only shorts, with Kirill in the shower. Quinn could hear the sound of the shower outside as he read "Giovanni's Room".

When you’re dedicated to going unseen, it’s jarring to be noticed. Like someone flipping the lights on when you thought you were safe in the dark. Moving to Minnesota, trading in his C for a regular jersey, Quinn was ready to slip into the background like a movie extra. He didn’t want to be the team; he just wanted to be part of one.
But there is Kirill. Staring at him with an eager smile. His blonde hair sticking to his forehead and curling up around his ears. His cheeks flush. He’s looking so intently at Quinn that it feels like he’s x-raying him.
OR
Recently traded Quinn Hughes is determined to fade into the background in Minnesota. He’s done being Superman. He wants peace. Enter Kirill Kaprizov, alternate captain, serial double texter, who may be able to give Quinn some.

he never wanted to be a god. hockey was a language to him, more proficient in it than french by leaps and bounds, but it was not a form of religion. it was something spoken and everchanging, developing under his feet and sitting on the tip of his tongue, new and beautiful.

A short what-if: the Wild are a bit more homophobic than canon and stumble across TikTok edits of Kirill and Quinn. Media department freaks, management is cautious, and the boys have to decide how much of their life is anyone else’s business.

Summary
Here's the thing that most don't know about when it comes to these kinds of things. There's so many people around the world who are spiritually in tune yet not everyone is a clairvoyant. Quinn’s family are just one of those unlucky ones that have the ability and the thing with clairvoyants is that their spiritual energy is a mirror of the dead’s.
Ellen had taught Quinn and his little brothers at a young age that they shouldn't, by any means, go through a ghost no matter what. Especially after what happened to Luke when he was five years old.
Their abilities came with repercussions. It was basic respect. They could see and interact with these more often than not lonely spirits. Going through them like they weren't real people was just rude and apparently dangerous for the clairvoyants themselves.
Or; the Hughes are being haunted by a ghost but so is the rest of the league.

Summary
There are many ways in which Kirill reminds Quinn of the sun, the most obvious right now being his irresistible pull. Quinn cups Kirill’s face in his hands instead of trying to walk away; he just can’t help it. “C’mon, I’m done, let’s just leave. You can wait.”
Kirill has the nerve to pout, which Quinn has the nerve to find adorable. “Don’t wanna. Wanna kiss you now, here. Everybody gone, why not?” -

“Are you gonna text him?” Brock poked Quinn’s bicep playfully.
Quinn shook Brock off, giving him a low hiss to stop talking. He still hadn’t told his own brother about his new relationship, let alone the entire team USA -- which included a few members he would really rather not know his personal life. But to answer the question, of course he was going to text him. He had promised to let him know as soon as they landed and he had access to Wi-fi. He didn’t know what time it was in Minnesota, but that didn’t really matter.Series

Summary
He caught his lip between his teeth, trying too hard not to think as thinking would put an end to their conversation. “You know the hotel that they usually put away teams in?” This was a bad idea.
Kaprizov just nodded beside him, so he continued, “I’m in room 1012. I’ll be back by ten.”
----
“You actually came,” was the first thing he said to him off the ice.
“And you actually gave me right room number.”

Summary
Quinn doesn’t really know why he’s here. Maybe, because it’s easier than going out and finding someone else that could provide this, because he thinks the familiarity of a teammate’s hold is better than some strangers, or maybe because he just craves what Kirill can give him. Whatever the real reason is, it doesn’t matter.

Summary
Quinn takes a moment. “Kirill… are you…” he trails off. Kirill’s breath is heavy. It’s hard not to assume.
Kirill hums in question but it doesn’t come out low and sure like it usually does. It’s high and needy. He speaks then, a whiny “Quinny,” falling from his lips. Quinn can practically hear the pout in his voice. The unspoken request.
Shaking his head, Quinn sits up on the bed. “Kirill.” He warns. “I have no idea when Jack will be back.”
“We’ll just have to be quick then.” Kirill reasons.

Summary
Clairvoyant.
A person who claims they can see spirits or ghosts, also known as mediums or psychics. Or sensitive, as Quinn Hughes had heard being used to describe him multiple times when he was younger.
It wasn’t meant to be an insult; it was just the easiest way to explain why he was claiming to see things, or people, that weren’t there. Especially when the excuse of him being a toddler didn’t pass anymore. So, it was a childhood full of hearing:
“I’m sorry. Quinn’s just a bit sensitive.”
“Quinn, you’re just being sensitive. There’s nothing there.”
Or whatever other phrasing his parents could use to explain why their oldest son was crying about seeing ghosts.
--
Or what happens when Quinn changes teams and must let his new teammates know about his ability to see ghosts?

The truth is, Quinn doesn’t really know what he’s doing here. Sure, it’s New Year’s Eve. But they just lost to the Sharks. In a shootout. It doesn’t feel good. Quinn had every intention of going back to his new apartment. Maybe drinking enough cheap champagne to forget about the shitty end to 2025.
But instead he’s here. In Brock Faber’s house. Sitting on Brock Faber’s couch.

Quinn would have expected many things from his new adventure in Minnesota: new friends, more peace of mind, maybe even a Stanley Cup. What he certainly didn't expect was to fall into the trap of Kirill Kaprizov and his big smiles.
