    Summary

Augustus Berrycloth-Young is coming to Hollywood for the sun and the stars.

Lucien Gibbs is coming to Hollywood for the stories and the stars. (Also for Augustus Berrycloth-Young.)

Guy Dexter is one of those stars. He’d prefer to control those stories. (Especially the ones that might be about him.)

So is Don Lockwood. So is Kathy Selden. So is Lina Lamont. (And do I need to go on?)

So, in a way, is Roscoe Dexter, the guy who sent out the invitation and is hoping for some much-needed cash to support his movie projects.

Maximillian Beauregard is just doing his job, keeping his charges safe and sane. He’s the one with the hardest job. Except for maybe Thomas Barrow, who has to keep his lover sane when dealing with all of the above.

A script with maybe dark magic, darker accounting (which anyone in LA knows is the darkest of all arts), and the utter evil that is the Hay’s Code. One in which every player has utterly lost the plot.

It was a dark and sultry night.

    Really.

More hijinks and shenanigans with our two favorite Harlem jazz fans as they cross paths ( and forma) with some of H. P. Lovecraft’s creeper characters.

Well, Lucian Gibbs knows a bit more on that subject than he’d like to. Augustus Berrycloth-Young might be picking up a clue. And the Lady Sapphire? Absolutely informed.

    Summary

In New York’s jazz age Mr. Augustus Berrycloth-Young aka ‘Gussie’, Wizard and good-hearted twit fell in love with Mr. Lucien Gibbs, jazz writer and ad man. They moved into a house in Harlem with a rather Jeeves-ian butler and many hep friends. All went well until the Great Depression hit, chilling the brilliant vibe of Harlem night life. Booze got scarcer. Cash got scarcer. Tensions – racial and political – got even harsher.
Even the New York Public Library (135th Street Branch – to be specific) is turning strange. Not that wizards ever get along with Librarians since wizards never return books and Librarians (capital letter very much earned) get rather demanding about getting books back. But now? Much more worrisome. It's one thing for people to have opinions about books. It’s another thing for books to have opinions about people.
Lucian Gibbs is caught in a book he can’t stop reading. And yes, that is literal.

    Summary

In the height of the jazz age one Mr. Augustus Berrycloth-Young, British Wizard and all-around good-hearted twit fell in love with Mr. Lucien Gibbs, jazz writer and ad man. They moved into a charming brownstone in Harlem, with a wonderful if perhaps fae butler and a huge crew of musical friends. All went well until the Great Depression hit, chilling the tolerant vibe of the Harlem night life. Prohibition got serious, cutting off the supply of good champagne. The theatre censors got serious, cutting off the fun times to be had at the pansy balls. Now the gangsters are dangerous, the police are dangerous, and something else is even more dangerous. Something is ‘vanishing’ members of the jazz community, and yes, the witnesses say that is literal.

    Summary

That ‘occasional letter’ that Nightingale had requested of me for his running interference on my behalf with the old sticks at the Folly was turning out to be more than a little taxing. What with being seconded to amateur sleuths as their personal assistants. And now he expected me to file reports. Still a Berrycloth-Young laughs, or at least only moans quietly, in the face of adversity. He also asks for a good strong drink.
