Caitlin must say something in response, but Adam doesn’t hear her, because the refresh has produced something after all, and the job listing at the top of the page grabs his attention like nothing else. The title: Personal Assistant for Atypical Researcher.
He clicks and skims the listing. Researcher of Atypical Studies seeking a personal assistant for household chores, schedule-keeping, etc. Must have strong communication and confidentiality skills to send and receive messages from the Atypical Monitors and other Atypical Rights groups. Atypical status not required, but familiarity with atypicals is preferred.
The pay is more a year than his parents paid for Yale.

Oliver had never been good at emotions. His own or other people’s. He had gotten better over the years at saying the right things at the right times, but it didn’t come naturally to him like it seemed to for other people. He knew he got it wrong a lot and it made people think he was a dick, but at some point he had stopped caring what people thought. Except for Mark. When he had gotten into Boston from Europe it had surprised and scared him just how much he cared what Mark thought about him. So much so that he did what he always did when he was scared, and ran away. Which only made things worse. But Mark had followed him and saved him and continued to be there for him even after what he put Mark through. If he hadn’t had feelings for Mark before, he certainly did now. He had known for a long time, but had pushed it down over and over again. But when Mark kisses Oliver on the way back from Yale, he begins to realize that pushing down his feelings may be causing more problems than solving them.

Mark gets sick kind of a lot—he didn’t use to (in fact, Joan said she was usually the one who caught everything when they were kids, and Mark would berate their parents for making him go to school while she stayed home sick), but the AM, the coma, and his ill-advised summer of love with Damien took such a toll on his body that his immune system took a huge hit in the process.
When he eventually told her, the winter after the safe house debacle, that he caught a lot of colds, he insisted it wasn’t that much of a problem. When the weather was nice, and he was eating and sleeping relatively well, exercising regularly, not drinking so much, he could go months at a time without so much as a sniffle.
He hasn’t been drinking, not a drop since they officially moved in together in October, but she can’t say with much certainty that he’s been sleeping well, and he hasn’t been exercising as much with Caleb off at school and the blood loss from Oliver’s serum revamp putting him out of commission for a few weeks.
He could be sick, and Sam doesn’t know how worried she’s allowed to be about that.

After Oliver goes to visit his family, he finds himself in a problem of his own making. When you lie to your sister that you’re in a relationship so she won’t attempt to set you up, what are you supposed to do when she asks to meet your new partner?
The answer is obvious, of course, though Mark isn’t as enthusiastic as Oliver had hoped when he proposes his scheme: they go to Oliver’s sister’s 40th birthday together, keep up the ruse, then they can go back to being roommates with no one the wiser. It seems simple.
Except on the horizon, a revolution is brewing. The truth about atypicals is on the verge of being exposed to the entire world, and Mark is about to be thrown into the centre of a media storm, dragging Oliver along with him. Suddenly they’re not playing pretend for their family, but on an international stage.
in other words: what starts off as a simple fake dating au gets very out of hand when documents about the AM and its patients are exposed, leaving Mark and Oliver as an accidental atypical power couple at the centre of a worldwide movement
