Toni’s eyes linger to the man to their right. Paul seems unfazed, maybe a little amused, scanning the clearing for his friends. His brow is furrowed as his eyes wash over the boys, and land swiftly on Toni.
What an incredibly fucking weird feeling.
It’s like something inside of her shifts into its correct place with a satisfying click - there’s something, and she doesn’t know what it is, but there’s something deep in her chest cavity that was off-kilter before that exact moment.
To her surprise, Paul’s expression changes completely, seemingly instantaneous upon looking at her. She watches as any pressure in his brow seems to relax entirely, the man’s jaw dropping open as he views her. His eyes look so soft all of a sudden, the look on his face seeming possessed, entranced in some way.
Entranced seems the perfect word to describe it. Before she can register what’s happening, the man has quite literally fallen to his knees, the look in his eyes nearing how a religious zealot would view an incarnation of God himself.

So when she was given the option to either stay with her mother and her husband in the heat that was Phoenix Arizona, or move with her sister into their dad's house in Forks in Washington, she sure as hell packed her bags, she really missed her dad. Moving to Forks was met with cold and wet weather, a childhood acquaintance who has a bit of an obsession with her older sister, a new school with a strange family of adopted siblings, and a coffee-eyed boy with a short temper just as short as her social skills. She knew life was different now. -
