It was cold. Bucky thought it was always cold here. But not like the cold at home, where everything smelt fresh and crisp and the delicate little snowflakes made the world seem like it had been sprinkled with fairy dust. The type of cold where his mother would bundle him up in his fluffy coat, ruffle his dark brown curls and laugh as she sent him out chasing after his sister through the glittering fields. This cold ran deep, chilling him to his bones. It whipped at his pale face and made his eyes get all watery and sad. This cold made the ground squelch, brown slush soaking into his thin pants. It didn’t matter how many layers his mother added, the cold was merciless.
Lowkey this is turning into like an insight to family... I'll find a better way to word it.

Summary
Torn from his old life and dumped unceremoniously in the 21st century, and then having to face an alien attack just months after coming out of the ice, Steve Rogers is struggling to come to terms with everything he's lost and isn't sure the title of Captain America is one he feels 100% comfortable with anymore. Alone, deeply lonely and desperate for anything to help him feel like his old self again, he stumbles across the work of fellow veteran and photographer Bucky Barnes, who specialises in helping wounded soldiers reclaim their bodily autonomy and sense of self after injury in combat.
When he asks Bucky to take his own photograph, he finds the connection he's been looking for the entire time. And, as it just so happens, Bucky finds exactly the same thing.

“Did you just sexually harass someone during my trivia?” Steve hadn’t even seen the speaker enter the bar. The guy was tall, but all of his other features were obscured by his dark blue hoodie and leather jacket.
“More specifically, did you just sexually harass my baby sister?” Around them the bar hushed. The bartender and bouncer who had, like Steve and Sam, started towards the troublesome table slowed at the menace in the man’s voice.
It was hard to see how in the dim lighting, but in the next second the mystery man hauled the catcaller up by his collar. “Get the fuck out of here,” the mystery man said, his voice tight with anger. “And if I ever see any of you in here again you’ll be drinking through a straw.” Then the man set the harasser down and with a well-placed kick sent him flying towards the door.
“That’s the trivia host?” Steve asked.
Steve didn't think they made professors like that.
