For as long as Mammon remembered, ever since they fell down from heaven, he’d been the punching bag of his family. He’d been the one to receive all of his siblings' anger with open arms, having to swallow down each insult, or nasty remark directed his way and pretend to be grateful. He was the one to suffer under the whispers in the cafeteria, to get shoved in the hallways, to get mocked for trying his best until trying wasn’t worth trying anymore. He was the one whose plate would get forgotten at the table; whose room would get barged in for mere suspicion, and when he dared to interact with his siblings he was treated like nothing more than pest. He was the one who had to tend to his own wounds, most often than not self-inflicted. More importantly, he was the only one to get shamed for indulging in his own sin, for daring to be greedy when it’s all he has ever known.
This is Mammon’s tale, or rather how he finally decided to stand up for himself.
