“Yeah, it wasn’t too comfortable happening the first time,” Chip joked, hiding the fear in his tone. “You ever get your heart pulled out of your mouth? Wasn't super fun.”
“I can imagine.”
Chip needed a resurrection, a true resurrection, and quickly if he wanted to live with any memory of himself. And luckily for his crew, they were able to find someone willing to do it. But resurrections have never been very easy on the body.

but it made chip laugh, and turn to face him, mostly question in his gaze. “why’re you here?” he asked, raising an eyebrow.
“figured out you were up here with queen,” gillion crossed his legs, leaning against the wall of the nest. “waited for them to come down to make sure you were. and here you are!” he smiled.
and chip smiled back, his eyes brightening. or maybe the bandanna was making them bright. gillion wasn’t ever sure when it came to chip.

It was the second night in a row that Gill was sitting at the table they had claimed in this tavern. He’d spent the whole first night anxiously trying to psych himself up to be able to get up and go dance horribly with his friends, but they had decided it was time to leave before he’d managed to do that. Tonight, he tried to pre-game by drinking two cups of mead before they even left their inn, but that wasn’t doing much other than dulling his senses to the noise around him. Anxiety still hummed in his chest as he watched Chip glide around Queen and Jay, the two who had agreed to come along with them on their excursion. Maybe Gill should just give up, there was no way he was going to actually get up and go dance. Gill didn’t even know how to dance.

Gill is trying his very best to protect Chip, but Chip is stupid so things happen. Gill proceeds to have a meltdown, but it's okay cause they cuddle about it.

Generally speaking though, Chip's natural instincts keep him safe. Which is why when he dove in front of a fireball to get Gillion out of the way he was a little confused.
Because by all means self preservation should have kicked in there. But it just… didn’t.
Chip knew he was getting more selfless for his crew, for Gillion. He didn’t realize it was risk mortal wounds levels of selflessness.
Or, Chip does something kinda out of character for him and he and Gillion chat about it.
