He freezes as a scaly palm presses to the back of his neck, claws ever so gently curling around his thin throat. “Uh,” he stammers, trying to think of a way to excuse himself, eyes flicking to the rest of the bus.
It’s packed again, he hadn’t even realized until now, a wall of people boxing him in completely. The lizard chuckles, patting Fizz’s thigh like they’re friends. He leaves his hand there, squeezing absently at the clown. “I’ll help you get out when it’s time, don’t you worry. I know you little imps are fragile.”

Blitzø starts the video, and it turns out to not be the pageant itself but afterwards, at a meet and greet. The video taker’s in the crowd, holding their phone up high to get a good shot of the winner in the middle of everyone.
They’re pretty. A cute beaky smile, with that same circle of red that the robot had. Black circles on his cheeks, a mismatched striped fool’s cap. Their movements are clunky, but their smile is so wide, and when they catch sight of the video taker’s camera, they look straight at it and grin, pink eyes crinkling in the corners and buck teeth untouched from childhood.
