The Doctor was fiddling around with the wires beneath the TARDIS control center, half-buried in cables and panels. Perhaps he was truly fixing something, some subtle imbalance only he could sense. Or, far more believably, he was simply keeping his hands busy. Ever since Nyssa had left, the Doctor had been like this, restless, humming tunelessly, inventing small, unnecessary repairs so he didn’t have to stand still long enough to feel another absence.
