From the minute Sirius Black was born, he failed. His parents’ expectations for him, the name he never chose to have to live up to, he failed. When he was going to Hogwarts, he thought of a new life for himself and for Regulus. He failed at that too when the hat called out Slytherin, damning him to the house he swore to never be placed in for fear he would turn out as corrupt and as evil as the rest of his family. He failed the future, the promises to his brother, that they would find peace together, so what more is there to it?
From the minute Regulus Black was born, he was difficult. He was the silent child, the child who obeyed, only because he had no voice to raise to speak against his parents. He didn’t speak until the age of seven and even at that it was only to Sirius for the first year or so. He was the sort of child to fuss and cry until his throat was raw from screaming through sobs. He was the child his parents never signed up to deal with and though he might be their idea of perfection to the public, he knew they hated him anyways.
So what if the Black brothers grew together instead of apart after all those misfortunes?

Regulus' heart grinds into his ribs as if it's trying to escape. The pounding is relentless as time seems to slow to a halt. He bites down on his tongue to have something else to focus his body on rather than its incessant shaking. It's an eternity before Evan finally answers the question completely.
"You're in the Good Place Regulus. You are okay, you're in the Good Place."

Regulus awakes in the afterlife and discovers he's been assigned a spot in the Good Place, but he knows that can't possibly be right. His brother is here, his neighbor is trying too hard to get close to him, and his soulmate is too blinded by wanting to do the right thing to help keep his secret. If he wants to be able to stay and avoid eternal torment in the Bad Place, he must find a way to earn his spot. With the help of those around him it just might be possible, or everything may fall apart.
