Summary
Sue, a modern grad student and accidental temporal agent, lands in the Paleolithic valley of Ayla and the Zelandoni. She was sent to prevent a future of soulless materialism, but her powerful, erratic Gifts quickly reveal a darker truth: the spiritual instability has gone cosmic. The entire magical nation of Valdemar, fleeing the collapse of its own timeline, is being hurled across space and time to seek sanctuary on Earth.
The cultural shock of this advanced, magical society will shatter the indigenous Cro-Magnon Others. The only solution? The Zelandoni must forge a desperate, fast-track symbiotic alliance with the Neanderthal Clan, using their deep, spiritual stability as the "anchor" for the entire world.
