Summary
Spoiled Cristiana finds herself having to serve 18 months in a low security prison, despite her insistence on her innocence. Before Tyrion can arrive and save Sansa’s life, Doran’s royal retinue from Dorne interrupts the proceedings. Sansa is taken to her chambers by a compassionate Daemon and looked after by a Dornish doctor. Doran immediately begins making plans to rescue Sansa, and meets with Tyrion to transfer her betrothal to his son Quentyn, knowing that if/when Quentyn returns he will already have a wife. Sansa warns him that Jeoffery will retaliate but he waves off her concerns. The next morning, Jeoffery burns Sansa alive in her bed. Tyrion is able to escape with a very injured Sansa, transferring her to a very-confused Oberyn, who invites her on his ship and makes his way home after picking up a doctor and a lady in waiting in secret.
Sansa grows close in companionship and trust to Oberyn and Daemon during their trip and is welcomed wholeheartedly and safely into Dorne. Meanwhile, Doran concludes his political matters and returns home, nervous for Sansa’s welfare.

Note on ages: Doran is 53, Oberyn is 42, Sansa is 12 (later 13)
Note on romance: Ambiguous relationships that can be read in whatever way suits you, though all main characters respect that Sansa is a child and are (accordingly) very sexually uninterested in her. With that said, a marriage will protect her from most of her current political problems, and she does not want to marry a stranger. In canon, it is a similar situation as Sansa marrying Tyrion without consummation. When she’s older, the nature of her marital (and non-marital) relationships will likely change, but that is beyond the scope of this fic. Am I trying to justify age gaps? Nope. Am I giving readers of this bookmark the context they need to make an educated choice on if they want to read this story? Yep.
