Summary
Set sometime in James's 6th year. James and Regulus are already together. After a quidditch game James realizes Regulus is injured but it's not from quidditch--it's from Walburga and Orion. He comforts him and makes him feel loved.
excerpt: "James rubbed his hands up and down his back. “I’m right here, I’m right here, love. I swear. Tell me where it hurts.”
Instead of answering Regulus brought one of his hands down to tangle with James’s. Bringing it up to his side he lifted his shirt.
“Gentle. Be gentle. Please”
“Always.”
Very carefully, James brushed his fingers across the skin. It was hot to the touch and the skin had an unnatural texture. Rough and mottled. Like a bruise because it was a bruise.
James pulled back a bit to look at it. Regulus let out a breathy, punched out sound of pain. James must have moved his hand the wrong way.
“Sorry, sorry. I didn’t mean to.” James said softly.
Regulus pressed back into James, laying his head on his shoulder. He was still shaking some but it'd lessened."
