Over a decade has passed since Breckett returned me home.
I thought I’d seen the last of space, of alien crafts and extraterrestrial life when the last gleam of light vanished into the darkness of the night sky. I thought I’d move on, live out my life on Earth, tell nobody what I’d seen or done. I thought it was over.
I was wrong.
The war between the Sentinels and The Director's Army ended before Earth was discovered. When a handful of cargo shippers accidentally discovered life on Terra 519, it was believed by most that it was the first contact between humans and alien species.
I knew better.
I'd seen the stars. I'd traveled the galaxy. I'd even been offered a chance to live in the great wide unknown, together with my lover on an isolated planet safe from Sentinel tyranny. I'd chosen Earth, then spent my life wondering what would have happened if I had chosen Breckett over my family, my friends, my world. I wondered if he had made it to safety, how he was enjoying his freedom, if he thought of me as often as I thought of him.
But now, I have an opportunity. And if there's one thing I'm sure of, it's this:
I am not going to let him go this time.
