Over a decade has passed since Breckett returned me home.

In some timeline, in some version of the story, Nathanos Marris makes a mistake. In some timeline a word of kindness somewhere, a show of support somewhere else, a moment of humanity for lack of a better term, heads off a preemptive strike at the pass. In some timeline, Alliance intelligence is just a tiny bit more paranoid, a tiny bit more thorough, and the Horde stalls in Ashenvale.

As memories resurface and realisations sink in, Brian is faced with the truth: he let go of the best thing in his life. Now, he has to decide if it's too late, or if he can finally get Justin to come back home again.

Justin looked down at his sketchpad. “I still draw you, you know.”
Brian didn’t answer. He couldn’t. The admission carved something out of him. Justin standing there, holding him pressed to paper, carrying him into whatever new world he was living in—it hurt more than it should’ve. Because what did it mean? What could it mean when it came from someone who’d walked away?
Justin lifted his head. “Every time I try to draw something else, it turns into you.”
