The man watches her for a long moment, gaze considering, before he nods, the smile that twists upon his lips patronizing and mocking. “Of course, milaya.” He circles her, seeming to appraise her even as she continues to gorge herself on his food. “You look like you have been lost in these woods for quite some time.”

Alternate universe where Alina never goes through the Fold, thus never awakens as the Sun Summoner. Kirigan, meanwhile, get's frustrated with the Lantsovs and decides he needs a vacation, so kicks off the 'fake my own death and return in a few decades as my own son' routine a little early. Decides on a whim to answer a personal advertisement looking for a husband of good health, and things progress from there.
