Ilya doesn’t think. He slides down onto one knee, placing his hands on each side of Shane’s colored helmet. Shane’s eyes are closed, his mouth slightly agape. There’s a stream of blood running down his nose, some of in running down the freckles on his cheek. Ilya’s heart aches, devastated to see Shane in such a condition.
“Hollander,” Ilya says, his voice shakier than he had ever heard it. Its pleading, begging for Hollander to just wake up. To open his eyes and grin at Ilya’s terrified expression. He’d probably tease Ilya nonstop for the rest of time, but God Ilya wishes for nothing more.
