    Grief was a vicious thing.
    Worsened without room for it to grow, worsened further with the knowledge that nobody else was struggling with it the same way. Goro Akechi was dead, and Akira had been carrying the burden of it alone for over a year. Moving home was not easy for them, nor was the freshly turbulent relationship between them and their parents, so as soon as they graduated high school, they moved back to Tokyo - to where life was familiar. Where their friends were.

    It wouldn't be easy, but it would be better, and they wouldn't have their reputation looming over their shoulders the way it did in their hometown, and it brought them closer to the feelings that they had during their time as a Phantom Thief.
    It's only when they go to the Jazz Club again, the evening of their return to Tokyo, in the hopes of reconnecting with their repressed feelings about Akechi when she reappears, not dead, and not willing to reconnect.

    Shortly after her return, the return of the Metaverse, and an entirely new mystery lays itself out.
