Summary
Robert couldn’t tell you exactly when he stopped talking. He could tell you why he did, though - two charges of attempted murder, a stint in prison, and the fact no one believed it wasn't him. Selective mutism, was what the prison doctor diagnosed, after a few sessions where Robert had sat there, silent, unable to bring himself to say anything. It can be a result of trauma – PTSD, the doctor had suggested. The only cure was time, and therapy.
- or, in the aftermath of John, Robert stops speaking. Aaron helps.

Summary
A heatwave griped the country two weeks after he returned to the village. Unforgiving sun from dawn until dusk, barely a breeze to help ease the suffering, no clouds to offer even a moments respite. It was cruel, Robert thought. Six years of confinement, of feeling trapped and suffocated every day, only for the outside world to offer more of the same.
Or a summer of reading, recovery and finding himself

“I am,” Robert says, off-script. “In case you hadn’t noticed.”
[Aaron doesn't want Robert, except for how he's never wanted anything else.]
