“I guess there’s a carnival or something out past the high school,” Adam says slowly, eyes fixed on the road. He can feel Ronan looking at him. “Blue thought it would be fun for us to all go.”
Ronan makes a noncommittal noise, gunning the car from third to fourth gear as they merge onto the county highway. “Has Sargent never watched IT?” he asks.
Adam laughs. “It’s okay, we don’t have to go.” He grins over at Ronan. “I’m sure we can find other things to amuse ourselves."
Ronan’s smile is quick and dirty, but he’s still got that look on his face like he’s putting a lot of thought to something.
“Parrish,” he says, before, “Adam. Do you want to go?”

Summary
Ronan is following Gansey out of the history building, listening to him wax poetic again about the various appeals of dead Welsh kings when Gansey stops dead in his tracks and says, “Oh, Adam, hello!”
Ronan knows that tone - that’s the same tone Gansey uses when he sees that insane art major girl he’s obsessed with. (Ronan’s pretty sure her name’s a color, he just can’t be bothered to remember, okay? He mostly just calls her “Maggot” anyway.) This is Gansey at his most amiable, his most likable, and it instantly sets Ronan on high alert. He looks down his nose at the person Gansey’s calling out to and his breath catches in his lungs.
Who the fuck gave any human person the right to be that fucking beautiful?

Four years out of veterinary school, there were plenty of animals Adam Parrish hadn’t had the opportunity to deal with yet, but he never expected a corvid to come through the doors of the practice. Rural Virginians had a slew of pets, from dogs to snakes to chinchillas, along with an even larger slew of livestock, but ravens weren’t high on the list of domesticated animals in and around Henrietta.
Adam Parrish is a veterinarian in Henrietta, Virginia. He's used to dogs. He's used to cats. He never thought he'd treat a raven. Or a pygmy goat. Or a fennec fox. Or an emu.
But then Ronan Lynch shows up.
