Cross lets out a sigh, this one so deep it causes the phone to cut it off, but Dust's pretty sure she can hear it somewhere out there.

The three of them had been sent together; Nightmare had not-so-subtly told Dust to play mediator, since Cross was still a little crabby with Killer for a prank he’d pulled the other week. Well, he no longer had to do that, either.
“You want to jump between Dreamboy and Cross’ daggers, be my fucking guest,” Dust told him, curtly. “Actually, go do that. But wait until I pull my phone out.”
Killer chuffed a laugh, the one that was a little unsure; he had no idea if Dust was kidding or not. How cute. “You want to leave Cross to take him on alone?”

Nightmare grabs one of her hands and pulls it closer, presses her teeth to the back of it. “It shouldn’t be. But you keep pulling off miracles for me.”
