Archived to Dropbox 8th Dec 2025This story in the first handful of chapters has already reduced me to helpless laughter several times. Delightful. Recommended.
I like that 9-year-old-Tim is a bit of a idiot (and has some child-like emotional blowups) while still showcasing an amazing brain and his scheming ways. And I love this Jason. And I love this mini-Ace too. This story is great, I just want more and more.
Jason raises his eyes to the ceiling briefly, lip quirking up. “I meant street art, Timmy. Night spraying. Graffiti.”
Graffiti? What, why - oh my God. He does know it was me last night, and he’s trying to figure out why I was there! thinks Tim, wildly making inductive leaps worthy of the Olympic Track & Field team. No, he doesn’t know. How could he possibly know for sure? He suspects. He thinks it was me, and this is an interrogation! Oh God. Don’t be suspicious, don’t be suspicious. Look innocent!!
Easier thought than done. Tim has suddenly and entirely forgotten how to do or say anything that isn’t screaming “It was me! I’m guilty as sin!”
Tim frantically runs through other possible responses in his head. “Why would I be doing anything at night other than sleeping?” No, that’s even worse. Plausible deniability! Just deny everything! “Nighttime? What’s that? Never heard of it. Who’s Tim? I’ve never met him.”
Tim ultimately settles on deflection, widening his eyes slightly and returning Jason’s gaze steadily, even though it makes him feel like his eyes are going to start watering any second from the effort of maintaining the facade of innocence. “Do I look like I would do graffiti?”
With brutal frankness, Jason answers, “You look like you just graduated from working with crayons and safety scissors.”
Tim can’t believe this. He’s getting roasted by Robin II. Dick Grayson would never.
“If that’s what you think, I don’t know why you would assume I’m committing misdemeanors in my spare time,” Tim says, offended.

Summary
The story of how Derek, a borderline feral werewolf pup, finds himself having an unlikely affinity for a younger boy named Stiles—despite the fact that this kid might be the most annoying person in existence. As the years go by and hardship repeatedly strikes like a violent ocean against the shore, they realize that the only way to stay afloat in their chaotic world is by anchoring each other and learning to build despite the onslaught of chaos and destruction that Beacon Hills attracts.

*Previously titled "Derek's Person." Now changed to be clear that this is a (Hale) pack-centric series—and while Sterek does take center focus in a lot of it, it is not solely a Sterek-centric series. The previous title reflected the first 6 short fics, as those were Sterek-centric, but the bulk of the series is about pack and what that means to each of the characters. Since the Hale pack symbol/tattoo is important, I thought this new title captured the focus of the series much better.*

(Derek’s Person) Deeper Than the Ink Beneath the Skin of Our Tattoos by ash_mcj

Archived to Dropbox at Words:231,818 Works:8 with 4 cpts in last bookAlways love a they-grew-up-together (and had to slowly figure it all out) story.
This one features what appears to be a doozy of a backstory that in parceled out in flashback scenes and references throughout the stories, lots of different POVs (fortunately rarely of the same scene, and fantastic choices were made on who to choose as the POV characters), an Alpha Talia that basically focuses on her daughter and one of her nephews (Jackson) and definitely pays less attention to her brother & his mate & children, and her own two other children (Derek & Cora) who were raised by her brother & his mate for not-yet-fully-explained reasons (implications that Derek was a disaster after some incident and they stepped up, then realized they liked parenting and ended up with 5 kids and a godson who is over there basically every day (Stiles)).
There are dead & dying parents/former spouses, a strong-since-high-school Chris & Peter & Noah BFF bond. And of course centrally there is a dangerously wolfy Derek who struggles near feral and is wildly territorial except Stiles doesn't accept that & barrels through as a toddler and never stops. They are both anchors and mates but will slowly grow into it (and even understanding it) but it's so very cute now. And all of the other kids love Stiles too (so many puppy piles & scenting and all of the other soft werewolf tropes we love).
After 200,000 words of growing up, delightful pack life with sibling and cousins, and slice of this alternate life (interspersed with real problems, including Derek being nearly feral, Talia ignoring half her pack, Sheriff's drinking problems, Claudia's diagnosis, and references to a doozy of a backstory), suddenly we have an alternate entrance to the infamous backstory of the Hales and are going to get to a remake of the series with great changes. With this great character-driven backdrop I cannot wait to read it.

Catwoman tilts her head and he quickly goes back to securing her handcuffs before she gets any ideas. “I just think there should be a vegetable.”
“...There’s a lot of protein in it. Maybe add an avocado.”
“That’s what I thought,” she agrees, and then knees him in the groin.
“Ough,” says Bruce, and immediately begins mentally redesigning his reinforced cup.

HIlarious semi-outsider POV of a successful hyde claiming.
“I wasn’t breaking you out,” Wednesday interjects, pulling away from him ever so slightly to finally give him that familiar scowl. “You were the unfortunate byproduct of other plans.”
Tyler laughs, mean and mocking, but his eyes are far too heated for having an audience right in front of them. He’s also still naked, Kent realizes with horror, and only Wednesday’s thick skirts work to provide him even a shred of modesty. “Unfortunate byproduct? This feels like an awful lot of work for an accident. Could have just written me a letter instead.”
“And let it get lost in your hoards of fanmail? I wouldn’t waste the postage,” Wednesday deadpans, sounding awfully uppity for someone who is still perched on Tyler’s, again, very naked lap.
“Ok, we’re leaving,” Ajax announces, tugging a gaping Enid towards the door, Bianca already vanishing out of it. “Have fun. Be safe. Please, I’m begging, leave me out of this.”
