Getting kidnapped was one thing. But getting kidnapped alongside Tony Stark, Bucky Barnes, and Steve Rogers? That was a whole other shitfest entirely. Sure, part of Peter couldn't deny how freakin' cool it was that he was sitting alongside some of Earth's mightiest heroes, but the other, less optimistic part of Peter was starting to realise how he was in more trouble than he could possibly imagine.

Happy stepped in front of Peter, "Are you here on your own accord?" He glanced at Tony with clear distrust, which was slightly fair in all honesty. Peter kept his face bored, raising an eyebrow. Happy faltered for a second before doubling down. "I mean it, I will take you home right now, we can call May." It struck him funny, how no one had any idea how much his world had warped upon itself in such a short time.
How long would it have taken them to notice May had moved, to notice how Peter's world was burning down around him if he didn't fuck up?
"Thanks, dude," the nickname would have gotten a scoff or some light threat in the past, but Happy only watched him. "I can make my own choices, grown man rights and all that. But A for effort, stepping in for the little guy." Peter made his words sharp, clapping sarcastically.
"Peter, I owe you a massive apology, I just need you to-"
"Don't give a flying fuck, keep it." He threw up a peace sign, shoving his hands into his pockets again as he wandered towards Tony, unbothered. Stark was watching him with an expression that told Peter that he didn't recognize him at that moment. But Peter didn't care, they could both eat dirt. He was done with them.

Summary
A continuation of the events in Keep Bending; Don't Break. Now that Peter, Steve, and Bucky are free from HYDRA, the Avengers (led by a vengeful and protective Tony Stark) are on a mission to track down those responsible for kidnapping and experimenting upon their friends. Largely physically recovered, Peter, Steve, and Bucky are still dealing with the mental trauma that has stemmed from their time with HYDRA. Between nightmares, bouts of fury, and Peter's complete refusal to so much as look at his spider suit, the question has arisen as to if they will ever be whole again. If they weren't broken, they definitely cracked. Can those fissures ever be repaired?

“Hey, Tony Stank” Rhodey starts speaking as soon as he opens the door, “what’s this I’ve been hearing abou-“.
Rhodey freezes mid-step and mid-sentence when he see’s Tony… or more accurately when he sees a kid sitting next to his friend.
…a kid that, when he and Tony look up at him entering the lab, looks freakishly like Tony did when he first met him back at MIT.
It may have been 30 years, give or take, since he met his best friend, but he’d never forget the first time that he met the skinny little kid that had a busted lip because he had mouthed off to one of the much older students.
He’d never forget that little face.
The face that he was suddenly seeing all over again…sat next to his best friend.
