Haera saw the truth now, and she could not let her fear blind her nor could she be complacent in ignorance ever again. Rhaenyra would stop at nothing to protect her sons. Even if Aegon did not contest Rhaenyra’s ascension to the throne, and Rhaenyra’s reign went on uninterrupted, Jacaerys would never be allowed the same opportunity. Rhaenyra and their father could pretend all they like, but everyone knew the truth. He would have no mother to protect him then, and the lords of Westeros would revolt and rally around a legitimate born ruler.
In any case, it would always be Aegon expected to take the helm of the Seven Kingdoms. In any case, they would always be in danger. If not Aegon, then it would be Aemond. If not Aemond, it would be Daeron. Then it would be Haera’s sons, and then Helaena’s. Then their daughters. No, Rhaenyra would never let them live. She would see them all dead before her in the effort to make Jacaerys’ ascension as smooth as possible.

This was heavily inspired by “La señora del Laberinto” by Tye137 and credits to Tye137
_____________Alicent marries the prince rather than the king as her father had plotted. The marriage is doomed from the start, and so are her children from the marriage.
The annulment is perhaps not much of a surprise to her. But unfortunately for Alicent Hightower, she’s newly pregnant and this upcoming annulment would mean stripping her unborn child of their legitimacy as a Targaryen royal.
But even with stripped legitimacy and their mother’s family name, Alicent’s surviving children with Daemon are still Targaryens.
And the Hightowers of Oldtown still desire to see their blood on the Iron Throne. And with the crumbling Targaryen family, it looks like that dream is going to be attempted to be fulfilled wether Alicent wants to or not…
