Chapter Text
All that was heard was shoes clacking down the hall alerting Tsuna and Reborn of who just arrived. “Takeshi” Tsuna started facing the rain guardian who stopped a couple of feet away, breathing heavily from running.
“H-how is he? W-where?” He started, stopping when Reborn laid a hand on his shoulder. “Breathe Yamamoto. Just focus on your breathing. Then we’ll talk,”He said and Yamamoto nodded. Once his breathing had calmed, Tsuna and Reborn brought Yamamoto outside of Gokudera’s temporary room.
“Gokudera is fine Yamamoto. From what the doctor said, he’ll make a full recovery within the next day or two. He does need a lot of rest and nutrients since he ignored that trying to make his way back here. According to Chrome, he was worried about staying away from you for so long that he pushed himself too hard. That love that you two share is quite strong” Reborn said and Yamamoto’s cheeks turned pink hearing the last part of the sentence as one of his hands turned his husband’s ring around his finger.
“Can I go see him?” Yamamoto asked after a few minutes of silence and Tsuna smiled. “Of course Takeshi. He should be awake at the moment from what Lambo told me last I called to check on him” he replied, gesturing to the door.
Yamamoto took a breath and opened the door, walking in. He saw Lambo leaning against the window as he laughed at something before noticing that he was in the room. He pointed at him and turned in the direction of his name being called.
His eyes became blurry from tears as he quickly walked though it felt more like a run towards the bed Gokudera was laying in. He let out a sob as Gokudera pulled him into a hug. He continued to cry as his husband whispered how much he loved and missed him, running patterns down his back and laying small kisses on his hair.
Hayato’s cheeks were just as wet but he was so happy to see his husband. Pulling back from the hug, Gokudera pulled his husband into a hard kiss. He ran his hands down his husband’s face, arms and chest like he was re-learning and memorizing it all over again. In the past year, his husband had gained more muscles in his arms from training, grew a little beard but it was scruffy and gave a rough feel but he loved it.
“I missed you Haya. I missed you so much it hurt” Yamamoto said when the couple pulled back from their kiss. “I missed you too my love. I’m sure you heard how stubborn I was about getting back to you” Gokudera replied and his husband chuckled in response as he nodded as he pushed a few pieces of Gokudera’s hair behind his ear. “I like this length Haya. It looks good on you” Yamamoto mumbled as he twisted some of his husband’s hair around his fingers, lightly tugging.
He pulled Yamamoto into a light kiss. “Don’t start things you can’t finish Takeshi” he mumbled, Yamamoto still feeling his breath on his lips. “I wasn’t trying too. Noted for later though” he replied, giggling. “Haya. I was so scared when Tsuna told me that we lost contact with you and Chrome for two months. Him and Reborn had to get me sedated because I was determined to go looking for you. I couldn’t bear it if I lost you. You are a part of my soul” Yamamoto explained, eyes tearing up and Gokudera’s filled up with tears as well. “I know. We were blindsided by an attack and lost the phone. I hated knowing you were up at night worrying about me. I’m so sorry, Takeshi” Gokudera replied sniffling, wiping the tears away leaving small kisses on his husband’s cheeks.
Gokudera and Yamamoto talked for a little while longer, before Gokudera yawned and dragged his husband into the bed that definitely wasn’t able to fit two people but they made it work. “I told Tsuna I couldn’t take any more long term missions. I can’t be away for that long again” Gokudera said and Yamamoto focused his sleep-addled brain on what was being told to him.
“You what? Haya, you’re one of the most qualified agents we have. You can’t just do that” he replied, and Gokudera kissed him, making him shut up. “Takeshi. It was my decision and Tsuna agreed with me. I can’t make myself indispensable for missions any more. I’m married. I have a wonderful, amazing, talented and loving husband that I love and wouldn’t give up for the world. I want to enjoy my life with you. I can still protect Tsuna but I also have you as well. You are a priority over all Takeshi. You are my husband and the love of my life. I need you to understand that” He explained Yamamoto laid there stunned.
Then, he laid his head on Gokudera’s shoulder and he sniffled, crying for who knows how many times that day. “What did I do to deserve a man like you?” Yamamoto asked and Gokudera smiled, kissing their linked hands. “I should be asking that question, Takeshi. Not you” he replied.
Yamamoto didn’t reply and Gokudera realized he fell asleep. He shifted to make sure they were both comfortable and kissed his husband on the cheek once more, glad to be home and back in his husband’s arms where he belongs.
