"My name’s Shane Hollander.” Shane stuck his hand out for a handshake and immediately felt stupid for it when the stranger’s lips twitched, as if he were suppressing a laugh. He put his cigarette back to his mouth and shook Shane’s hand.
“Ilya Rozanov.”
“Rozanov. You’re Russian?”
“Da,” the stranger said, a smirk curling his lips.
Shane felt his cheeks flush in annoyance.
“I guess I’ll be seeing you,” Shane said, curt and as unfriendly as he could muster. God forbid he try to make friends.
He was walking up to the door of the building when the stranger spoke up again. “See you, Hollander.”
Shane paused for a second and then kept walking. He liked the way Rozanov said his name; the way he harsh ‘h’ sounded unnatural coming from his mouth, and how his lips curled around the ‘r’.
As he was waiting for the elevator in the lobby, Shane turned around and watched Rozanov drop his cigarette butt to the ground, stubbing it out with his toe, and walking away, hands shoved in his pockets. Shane fought the urge to go outside and pick up the discarded butt to properly throw it away.
Fucking asshole.

A certain someone doesn't seem to approve of him leaving, and truth be told, between sleeping in or attending a work conference, the answer is simple.
Pretend to want to go until they're so insistent that he stays, so Rui can stay in bed with minimal guilt. Toya won't mind, surely?

Summary
When Stiles seeks shelter from the rain in a rundown house in the middle of the woods, the last thing he expects is to find that someone is actually living there. Even less that the person in question isn't quite human. Derek is something else entirely.
Before he knows it, Stiles is thrown into a world he knows very little about and while he enjoys the unlikely and complex relationship that sparks between them, it's obvious that something darker is lurking in the shadows. Something from Derek's past that is just waiting to tear them apart.
Chapters 13, 14 and 15 are bonus chapters, featuring the same story but from Derek's POV (a total of 40 700 words). This is basically two fics in one.
