Chapter Text
I was going to a new school for two reason. 1) I had magic. My parents thought it was possible for me to have magic since my big sister had magic of her own too. However, they said it was sort of stronger than hers a bit in some areas. 2) My sister got picked on at the old school, so my parents decided to transfer her and me to another school because of the bullying. They were worried that since my sister was picked on, I was going to get picked on, so they moved us both to the other school. My sister was able to make friends and now I had to since I was going to spend the rest of my life here. I did make friends, and they were as crazy as my sister’s friends. We were sent to a boarding school to learn how to control our magic. According to my sister, she had already made friends within a week of the first week of school! She already fit in with the school! I was envious of her. She was able to fit in so well and I wasn’t. I sat in the library and began to read a book off the shelf. I enjoyed reading but I also like video games. However, I was going to pick up a book to read, I bumped into a boy in my class.
“OW!” we both cried.
We looked up and say each other though the boy was turning red.
“Are you ok?” I asked him in a loud manner.
He blinked a few times and then responded “Uh, y-yeah! Here let me help you!”
He picked my book and held out his hand. I took his hand and he helped me up and gave me back my book.
“So sorry about that!” he said in a nervous manner as he tried to look away from me.
“It’s fine! Cheese relax!” I said to him as I looked disappointed and my expression was basically saying “man up!”
He looked up at me and then he nodded and smiled at me joyfully.
“Oh! I am Alex by the way” he introduces himself to me as he held out his hand for me to shake.
“Right, and I am Nerissa Finn” I replied to him as I shook his hand.
We both laughed and then prep started. We were on the opposite sides of the classroom, but later on, he helped me adjust to the school and the classes and the fact that my big sister and I were now going to live here for a while. It wasn’t too hard really. I enjoyed hanging out with Alex a lot, but I really wanted a friend that was a girl. Sure, he’s great but he’s busy with his other things like sports and homework. I would study with him, but the rules say that girls and boys are forbidden to stay in the same room unless you were an 8th grader up to high school then you could visit but only for homework purposes. I wandered around the halls until it was time for me to skate. My big sister was busy with golfing with her friends.
“Hey! Give that back!” shouted Addie as she was chasing Alie through the hallways.
I looked at the both of them and they were messing around. Lauran Cab came into the room and was recording the whole thing for fun? Why? I looked at them more and then Addie tackled Alie to the ground.
“Alright give it back!” shouted Addie as she pinned Alie to the ground.
“Fine, fine!” she said as she handed Addie a little toy puppy figure.
“Thank you!” she said as she got up from her and then walked back to her room.
Alie and Laruen followed her and then they were gone. They were interesting group of friends. I waited to see if they could out again and sure enough, they did. Addie was then running away from Lauren and Alie was recording this on her phone. Alex had just got back from his soccer game and he was with Gabe, who was also in our grade, and they saw Lauran, Addie, and Alie fighting.
“Guys please stop this” said Alex as he got in between Addie and Alie from fighting.
“NEVER!” they cried, and they pushed Alex out of their fight.
I was shocked and then they Gabe helped Alex up and then they looked at Addie and Alie who were trying to play with the same pet figurine. They wouldn’t stop fighting over it.
“Shouldn’t you guys stop?” I asked them as I looked at them.
“NEVER!” Addie and Alie shouted again.
I was getting annoyed and I was trying to think of a way for them to stop fighting. I then looked at Lauren.
“Does this happen often?” I asked her.
She looked up from her phone and then looked at me as she said “Well yes. They have been doing this since they have met each other so I would say about a year”
I was a bit in shock and then I decided to use my magic to stop them from fighting. I clasped my hands and then I shot a green beam in between Addie and Alie! They jumped back in surprise and they both looked at me in shock. I was confused as to why, but as I looked around myself, Gabe, Lauren, and Alex were looking at me with bewilderment. I stepped backwards a bit and I looked at them with a bit of fear on my face. Alex walked up to me and looked at me.
“You can do that too?!” he asked me in amazement.
“Well yes, but isn’t that a common type of magic?” I asked them as I held out my hands.
Alex looked back at Gabe who was laughing at me! Laruen, Addie, and Alie were amazed at my powers too.
“Can someone tell me what is going on please?” I asked them in annoyance.
I wanted to know what was going on and why were my powers so special when in reality I am pretty sure there is nothing special about them.
“Well I don’t really know myself, but what I do know about that power we have is something special and amazing!” he said to me joyfully.
“How do you know that?!” I asked him in a loud and very confused manner.
He shrugged and then we heard the bell ring for the cafeteria for dinner. After we got our lunch and sat together, I was beginning to ask them questions about my powers.
“Well we don’t know anything about our powers really” said Alex.
“Yeah the thing is, we did a ton of research about them but we didn’t find anything!” said Gabe in disappointment.
“Every time we were close to finding out what those powers were, we ended up going back to square one because there always something proving against us about the power” explained Lauren as she eats noodles from her soup.
“We have tried almost everything, and we still can’t find anything!” shouted Addie in frustration.
I sighed. My parents knew nothing about our powers and Nina didn’t know anything about it. Was my power that old or not that important?
“Hey, I heard you guys wanted to find out the origin of certain powers, maybe I could help you out?” asked Jiwon though this was the first time I have actually meet her.
“Yeah, you see we are trying to figure out Nerissa’s powers” began Alie seriously.
“But so far we have absolutely nothing” finished Addie who disappointed.
Jiwon looked at us. We were defeated and we couldn’t find anything. Jiwon patted our heads and smiled hopefully.
“I think I can help you” she said.
“REALLY?!” we asked hopefully, and our voices went up a higher with a lot of hope.
“Yeah, I checked out a book on ancient magic and it might have something on her power” she explained to us with hope her voice too!
Nina walked by our table and she smiled at Jiwon.
“So, you guys have meet Jiwon, she’s pretty nice and very smart but do not cause her trouble ok?” said Nina to us seriously.
“We know” we replied in an annoyed manner.
She gave us a kind smile and then went to her room. The rest of us looked at Jiwon eagerly. She glanced at us and then at our food.
“Well finish your food and then we can go to my room and see if Nerissa’s powers is something important” she said to us.
I didn’t want to wait really, and I think Gabe knew that, because he took a piece of his oranges up and threw it at Todd! We gasped in shock and Todd turned around and looked at us with anger. Gabe pointed to LoganS who was behind him! Todd threw his hamburger at him as Alex made LoganS turn his attention to the incoming hamburger. His face was covered in ketchup and lettuce. He slowly wiped it off of his face and then he took Joey’s sandwich and threw it back at Todd, but he missed it and it hit Nathan’s face! After they joined in, the other boys in my sister’s grade began to throw food at each other and the girls left the lunchroom. We left the lunchroom before LoganS retaliated.
“So, can we see the book now?” asked Gabe innocently.
The rest of us were shocked about Gabe’s actions and ideas while Jiwon was thinking how he got into this school and why he thought of this kind of plan.
“Alright, we can go to my room” said a defeated Jiwon as we jumped in joy.
She sighed and she led us to her room. We entered her room and she had a lot of spell book and regular textbooks! She had her piano in the right corner of her room. She also had some book in Korean and she also had her tennis stuff in the left corner of her room. It was very big. She had a desk and a balcony in her room too. Oh, her desk was a book about certain powers. We walked over to her desk and she sat down in her chair and we stood around her desk.
“Ok so this is the book I was talking about. It explains almost every type of magic in our world” explain Jiwon as she opened the book.
We looked at the book and then we saw kids using certain and unique magic powers that I have never seen before. They were magic from other worlds? It sounded like things from Kingdom Hearts and my big sister is obsessed with that video game while I like anything really.
“I don’t know much about this book, but for some reason, it was able to find the origin of my book here” she said as she pointed to her book with the dragon mark on it.
I looked at the book and I knew I had seen that mark before, but I wasn’t so sure where I had seen that book. I looked at the other pictures of in the book and then I saw one that looked extremely like my power and Alex’s!
I pointed to the picture as I said, “That’s what my power is!”
Everyone looked at me, but Alex looked at the picture with great interest. Jiwon began to read the whole passage and then she jumped in shock.
“But that power has been lost! There is no one alive who should have that kind of power!” she stated in disbelief.
Alie looked at her and asked, “Why is that?”
“That power belongs to two beings who are not reincarnated for another 5 years!” explained Jiwon as she reread the passage again.
The rest of us looked at each in bewilderment and they tried to figure out what was really going on. We waited for Jiwon to calm down and then we looked at her when she was done doing some calculations about the year of our powers. She finally calmed down and then she looked at us.
“Alright, let’s assume you two have those powers, do you know what to do with them?” asked Jiwon as she looked at her tome and had out her study notebook.
“Um ok” said Alex nervously as he held out his hands.
A green light flowed from his hands freely and it was so warm. The light then shot out of the window and struck a car’s windshield! Everyone ran outside onto the balcony and saw the might of our power. The car’s windshield was destroyed! Everyone looked at Jiwon, hoping for a reasonable explanation. However, she looked stumped.
“Nerissa can you show us your power?” asked Jiwon nervously but her voice was a little shaky.
I charged up my powers and then I opened the palm of hand and a green light flowed out of my hand and danced around Jiwon!
“What does that mean?” asked Gabe as he looked at the green light.
The green light moved away from Jiwon and danced around Alex joyfully! Everyone was in awe at this green light’s power. After the light danced around Alex, it vanished, and everyone looked at Alex and I. We didn’t know the full lengthen and true strengthen of our powers, so this is something we wanted to find out.
“Alright then I think know what power this is” said Jiwon again after a long period of silence.
“WHAT IS IT?!” we all asked in suspense.
We were tired of waiting and we had looked for the answers the whole day, so we were naturally on the edge of our toes when we heard that Jiwon might have an answer about our powers.
“I think, well, I believe that the power you hold is from two ancient beings from long ago. These two beings have the ability to access almost any kind of power from any world! Though to master this power, they had to travel to every world and learn their techniques. It seems that you two have that ability because they had that elemental power: energy” explained to Jiwon.
“So, what should we do about this power?” asked a worried Alex after hearing all of that at once.
“Well the only thing you can do is learn how to control this power” she replied to us.
We were silenced. This power was strong, and it was in the hands of two young kids! How on Earth are we going to master this power?!
“Don’t worry, you will have 14 other members, including myself, will help you learn how to control this power” she said with an encouraging voice.
We looked at her with curiosity on our faces.
“You’ll see soon. Since you two are here, then that means something amazing and big was about to happen!” she said with a smile on her face.
We were both shocked at that remark too and we wanted her to explain more about our future and our powers. However, we had to go to our rooms because curfew is at 9 and it was 8:40. We waved goodbye as we walked out of her room and thanked her.
Alex ran beside me and said, “Hey Nerissa, no matter, what I’ve got your back and I will promise to help you out, but would you do the same to me?”
I replied “Of course! You are my friend!”
Little did I know, that moment in my life was the being of the greatest adventures of life! I went to so many worlds and helped so many people and made so many friends. I am really happy that I have this power and that I have friends that will help me out and I hope it never ends.
