Flora P.o.V
Today was finally the day! My Brother and I sent out our applications to red fountain and alfea about 3 months ago, waiting in anticipation for an reply to our applications.
Just today, after I came back from the supermarket with 2 bags of food and drinks, did I see the mailman put a letter in our mailbox. Out of curiosity, and since I was close by, I looked inside the mailbox and saw that two letters arrived.
At this point I had almost forgotten about the feedback letters, since schoolbreak was almost over and we hand't gotten a letter yet. Normally, that would mean that your application was rejected and that you weren't getting in. I placed the bags down to take out the letters and took a look to see who they were adressed to, since I can take them inside to the person with me. My eyes widened when I recognized the stamps and names.
They were the letters we had waited for! And here I was, beginning to think we wouldn't get an letter. One was from red fountain, the other one was from alfea.
I smiled brightly and hastly picked up the bags from the floor, before I ran inside with both the bags and the letters. I shouted "Valerion! You have to come, letters from the schools have arrived for us!" through the house while I placed the bags on the stools in the kitchen. Not long after I could hear fastening steps coming down the stairs as he ran to me and almost crashed into the kitchen island. I chuckled softly, as I held the envelope ,addressed for him, towards him. He snatched it out of my hand and smiled brightly "finally! Let's open them together!" he said excited. I nodded in agreement and took my own envelope from the kitchen counter, though I looked at him with anticipation and nervousness. I calmly took a breath in before I looked to Valerion "ready?" I asked excited but still nervous. He nodded immediately a lot of times. We gave each other a signal with our eyes before we opened them. Valerion opened it with a knife and took the letter out fast, really excited and nervous just as I was. I took a bit longer since I peeled it open with my finger, to not ruin the paper.
I froze before unfolding the letter "wait... Who should look first?" I asked nervous and with a lot of adrenaline pumping in my blood. He sighed "I will look first, I will explode if I don't" he said, a little exaggerated, but then unfolded the letter. His eyes focused, I saw them fly over the letter as he took in the words. He seemed a little shocked, I could tell by the way his eyes widened and he flew over the same words again. I began to become uncertain and so I asked "what is it?..." afraid that he got bad news because he wouldn't stop looking over the same words over and over again.
He began to grin "I got in! I can't believe it!" he said excited and then turned the letter around to show me it. He seemed really relieved, excited and glad.
I smiled happily "that's good! Oki now me..." I said ,I felt my voice shake as I slowly and carefully unfolded the letter. I gulped as I read the letter, oh gosh the letter seemed so small. That couldn't be a good sign.
But as my eyes travelled over the words I felt immediate relieve sink in at the words "we are happy to inform you that you got in. The school start is...". I looked up to my brother and hugged him "I got in too!" I said excited. He squeezed me softly in the hug, we just were really relieved and glad. After a while I separated from the hug "we have to tell mom and dad!" and he immediately nodded "I know! Although I think that they will be more excited about the news then us!" he said with glee and laughed.
I laughed too and nodded my head "that's true. But it's a good thing to celebrate. "I can't imagine how Miele will react!" Miele was as excited as me when I applied. She also wanted to go to the school of fairies but wasn't old enough yet, but she wanted as much as me that I get in and begged me to tell her the final news. I guess it was also partly that she was scared that if I don't get in, I would be sad and maybe even that she also wouldn't get in. I'm so excited to share the news with her, I bet she will be happy.
I heard my brother laugh again, my smile grew bigger as we went down the corridor in search of our parents and little sister to tell them the good news. It was like we had thought, after they found out everyone was happy and excited for us, we threw a little party and had a great time. My mom and dad wanted to celebrate it immediately, since we would need to pack our things and bring them to the school tomorrow. Since we got our letters kinda late we didn't have a lot of time so we made the most of it.
I could feel my shoulder being tapped, I spun around to see my mom. I smiled at her as she sat down next to me "Flora I'm so proud of you... I knew you could do it!" she said ,with a great mood and looked at me with pride.
I could feel myself heat up as I was a little embarrassed to be treated like a little kid, but also it felt really nice to hear how proud she is. "Thanks mom... I'm so excited! But I don't really know what to pack..." I told her honestly. It came a bit unexpected with the letter after all, also my nervousness began to grow again that my head went blank when I tried to think about what would be useful and what I would need.
She smiled knowingly at me "don't worry, I will help you pack!" she assured me. I smiled softly at her "thanks mum, really." she just patted my back and gave me a kiss on the forehead "don't mention it, I would do everything for you two. Now excuse me, I have to give my congratulations to your brother too" she said with a smirk. I already giggled, knowing that he will be so embarrassed but also grateful.
My mom stood up and walked away, after that my dad sat down next to me. "Hello my little flower... Can I also have some time?" he asked softly and with happiness, while also in a more jokingly tone. I rolled my eyes "of course dad" I replied. He leaned over "I got you and your brother a little surprise... I guess it ain't a surprise anymore, but I wanted to give you this" he whispered to me as he held out a little box. I took it and opened it with him sitting next to me, so he would see my reaction.
I gasped as I saw a choker with a flower hanging from it and a little music box inside ,which could also be used to store jewels and other small Accessorises. I hugged my father tight "thanks pa, I love it!" I said honesty and hugged him tight to show my appreciation. He returned the hug and laughed softly "I hoped you would and am glad you do" he replied to me with not only gentleness but also happiness, even though I could hear a little sadness. I knew my dad, I always saw him look this way too everytime he noticed how much more Miele is growing up. It was hard for him to see us grow up, about to now take our own path.
I hugged him a little tighter before he stopped the hug and laughed "don't strangle me flora. You mean the world to me but very much want to stay alive" he said jokingly.
I laughed and felt my insides hurt a bit from this much laughing and happiness. He then stood up "don't forgot to write to us or call us and even visit us when you have time, alright?" he asked me softly. I immediately nodded "of course dad! I will update you guys on everything." I told excitedly. He nodded "well, I better go join your mom and brother, he will also need his present" he told me before he waved and held a finger infront of his mouth "don't tell anyone~". I did a signature, signaling that my mouth is sealed shut. He smiled again at me before he joined my mother and brother.
I then stood up and walked over to Miele, she looked a little down. I began to worry "Miele? Is everything alright?" she nodded before she hesitated, then she shook her head. I placed a hand on her shoulder "what's wrong?" I asked in a soft voice, almost whisper so she knew she won't have to worry about feeling forced to tell me or that the others would hear. She sighed and looked up to me with big eyes "It's just... I know you wanted this a lot... I really am happy for you... But do you have to go?..." she asked, before fiddling with her hands "If you and brother leave.... I will be all alone" she told me.
"Aww sweetie, don't worry we can still see each other... You can visit me or Val and we can even talk on the phone. Also we will come visit in the holidays" I assured her but tears began to swell in her eyes. She hugged me tight and sniffled "I know... I... I will just miss you both... So much..." I felt very bad for Miele, I didn't really know what to say right now to make her feel better. So I decided to say nothing and just to stroke through her hair to comfort her as she hugged me around my legs and pressed her head against my stomach.
My brother joined us at some point, also happy with his own gift, which was a pair of new shoes he always asked our father to get him. He looked concerned when he heard Miele sniffle and saw her hanging to me "everything alright here?" he asked me softly. I nodded but whispered "Miele... Is sad that we will leave" I explained to him quietly.
Recognition filled his eyes as he nodded "I understand.... Let's try to make her happy then" he grinned before he picked Miele up and held her in the air. She was still a little sad but a while after Val's funny antics she began to giggle and smile again and even demanded from him to be thrown in the air and also play horsey. I couldn't help but laugh and smile at the sight. I would also miss Miele and my family a lot. It will be the first time that I will be so far away, even if it didn't take long to get to alfea. After all we could still use magic. I joined back in with my family, enjoying the celebration and didn't even notice the time getting late as we're enjoying the moment.
When I suddenly woke up on the couch I groaned as I sat up. My back hurt from sleeping on the couch. It seemed I feel asleep in the living room after I sat down for a while to rest. I was still better off then Valerion, he was still knocked out cold on the floor. I couldn't imagine how much that will hurt when he wakes up. My eyes flew over to the clock on the wall, it was already 11 am. I stood up and then poked Valerion to wake him up. He hated getting interrupted in his sleep because he was a light sleeper.
As soon as I poked him he flinched awake. He groaned "ugh really flora..... Why are you waking meeee" he whined and groaned, not only unamused that I woke him but from the looks of it of how uncomfortable the ground is.
I sighed "Val, it's already 11 am... And we're supposed to pack and get going to alfea and red fountain... Did you forget?" I reminded him, trying to keep my voice soft as I can while I was at it. He immediately sat up and almost bumped into me "oh my god! I almost forgot!" he groaned before he stood up. I also took the blanket off the floor and stood up with it, before I laid it onto the couch I was sleeping on before.
"Ugh... My back hurts.... How come I slept on the floor?" he asked annoyed. I sighed "really? Val you and I are both already 16.... We are atleast 60 to 80 kilograms. Do you really think our parents would be able to carry us to bed?" I asked him with a raised bow. He sighed "I guess not... But how come I have to sleep on the floor and you were able to sleep comfortably on the couch?" he asked grumpy, since he was still sleepy. I shrugged "I fell asleep on it.... If it makes you feel better, my back also hurts... So it wasn't really that much more comfortable" I told him with honesty. He swatted with his hand "It really doesn't make me happy... But I guess atleast it's a little bit more fair..." he then walked to the stairs, I followed behind him. Suddenly we heard a car beep. We looked confused to each other, before we went out and saw that our dad was already in the car, ready to take us to alfea, and that our things were already packed and set inside the car.
We walked towards our father in confusion "when did you all pack our things?" asked val for the both of us. "Ah you know... We woke up early, we really didn't want you to miss your first day at school and the excitement from yesterday didn't wear down. So we packed everything that you would need and then carried it to the car" he explained to us. "But isn't it still Friday?" I now asked in return with confusion.
My father nodded "that's true. But school already starts the upcoming Monday and we still didn't get your school stuff into the schools nor did we buy them." well it was unsure until yesterday if we would even get in... "We thought it would be better to bring the stuff there today, since me and your mom will have to work on Monday and therefore can't take you" ah now it made sense.
Of course me and Valerion had magic but we didn't have practice, so without our parents we wouldn't be able to get to our schools. Also today we could talk more freely with the teachers than on weekends when the times they would be in are unsure. I looked around "isn't mom gonna join us?" I asked him since I didn't see her. He shook his head "after all the excitement and packing she fell asleep. She was very tired. Before she fell asleep she told me to bring you to your schools in her stead too" I 'ahhed' in understanding to his explanation. I went to the other side and opened the car door, I sat next to my dad in the front. When mom isn't with us I always sit in front since I liked it more with the music in the front. My brother sat behind me in the backseat.
"Okay, are your seatbelts on?" he asked as I was already on the task of fastening my seatbelt. When I was ready I smiled lightly, still tired, and nodded. He smiled and turned the volume from the radio music on "oki, let's go" we heard the engines turning before the car started to levitate and the wheels were tucking in. This was a magic electric car after all. Then we began to zoom towards our destination, even though it was normal speed it felt really fast. I guess I just wasn't ready that we would leave immediately....
