Flora P.o.V
After a while of driving we were at the center of magix, where you could hang out, shop or do other stuff. It was busy, since people also went here for work, my father looked at the road but also for a parking spot. Since it was the heart of the city it seemed to be rather busy. after driving around for a bit he found a sport and parked there. The wheels coming out again, like how it's known on airplanes from earth, as he parked and shut the engine off so the mana could restore and wouldn't run out.
I excited the car first but was quickly followed by Val and my dad. He looked at the school lists, since both me and val had gotten in we would need a couple of things. I heard my dad sigh as he looked at the length of the list and all the things that were listed. I took pity, he was probably also tired but didn't get to sleep yet. I took my own list out of his hand "don't worry dad, I can handle getting my own things." i told him with a smile. He looked uncertain "you sure? getting the things for your brother will take me a while... you would have to wait" he asked concerned. I nodded "yeah I can handle it, it's just a few books" I reassured him and then added on "besides, we would be done much quicker if I split up the things to get with you, or we would be here all day". I was exaggerating a bit but at the same time I saw the length of Vals list and both me and my father didn't even know where most of those things were ,so it would definitly take a while and in my opinion it seemed to be the best solution.
He smiled and ruffled my hair "oki, but be careful my little flower" he said, still unsure to let me go alone and rather worried. I rolled my eyes "dad I will be fine, I can handle myself" I reassured him again. He hesitated before he sighed "alright alright, you're right.... I will need to get used to this anyway" I knew he meant me growing up ut also having to do things without him. I kinda felt bad but smiled softly at him "we will meet up again here later again." I told him. "I know... but still. Just don't get lost" he said and with that he took off. I knew he meant well but I didn't really know how to respond.
I wasn't a little girl anymore after all. I looked over to see Valerion still standing there, I jabbed him lightly. "Oww" he said as he held his arm where I just jabbed him "what was that for?" he asked with annoyance clear in his voice. "you could have also taken your list. Dad is probably tired" I scoffed, a little annoyed with his attitude. "what?? he didn't say anything to me though... it's no big deal" He sighed and then yawned. I shot him a serious look "you could have atleast gone with him.... Or I guess, you don't care if the outfit he has to buy will be to your liking..." I added with a smirk.
His eyes widened "Oh my god, you devil!" he accused me "you should've said so from the beginning! I can't look like a fool!" and with that he ran off to catch up after our father.
I smiled at the satisfaction of knowing I sent my father help, even though he probably knew the colours of the uniform. I looked at my list "5 books..." I muttered to myself.I looked around magix, but didn't see any bookstore or other stops that seemed like a place where you could get books from. I really didn't know the place, but I knew what a library looked like and the name of a bookshop, my father as prepared as always wrote notes down, so I should try to find one of those two.
I began walking through the streets of magix as I looked around for the name of the bookstore or any kind of sign of a library or other bookstore. I wasn't paying much attention to infront of me, since I as busy looking to sides to the stores. Suddenly I bumped into something, or rather someone, and fell to floor on my backside. I grazed over my hip as I groaned uncomfortably "oww....", before I realized that the person I bumped into also fell to the ground and even dropped somethings. My eyes widened and I picked up the things from the floor that belonged to the other person "oh my god.. I'm so sorry! I didn't look where I was going" I apologized, feeling embarrassed about being so careless.
I heard a sigh before I saw the other ones hand join me to pick up the things that fell to the ground "it's fine" a stern and feminine voice said. I looked up surprised by the harshness, but I suspect I couldn't have expected anything else.
I held out her things to her "thanks, I guess" said the girl with pink hair and a short pixie cut. I recognized one of the things I was holding to be a book, the same book I needed for history class. "Could it be... that you're also attending alfea highschool?" I asked her with interest.
She looked at me, surprised that I knew that from only a book, but got her facial expression back to monotone "I guess you're asking because you're a student yourself, right?" she asked me. I nodded "well let me introduce myself. I'm Tecna. To answer your question, I do attend alfea highschool. I was shopping for my school supplies" she told me.
I smiled excitedly "I'm Flora! Nice to meet you Tecna. By any chance, could you tell me where you got that book?" I asked but continued before she could reply "I myself am also shopping for my school supplies, but I don't really know my way around here.... It would really help if you could show or explain me where you got it from" I told her and looked at her with hope and anticipation.
She sighed but smiled ever so sightly "I guess helping out a fellow classmate would be favorable to me." and I just smiled in appreciation as I said "thanks", She nodded "follow me... It's not that far, but when you don't know your way you tend to get lost in a place so big and occupied as this one." She explained to me.
I sighed "tell me about it, I thought my dad was merely over exaggerating when he told me not to get lost... And now here I am, asking for help" I said with a chuckle, I guess my father will always be right about his stomach feeling.
"Parents will always worry about their children, it's their parental instinct to be frank. But I suppose what you said also sounds logical, after all our parents are more experienced than us so it makes sense that their more likely than us to be right about their worries." She told me, I'm already starting to like Tecna, even if she seemed a little cold. I guess I'm more of a person that explains with feeling and she does with logic.
We're kinda like opposites but I still found it nice and interesting to hear such a different approach of thinking. I nodded my head at her "that's true. Our parents already experienced everything from school that we still need to learn and have way more experience than us in life... I guess I should then take my fathers worries more serious?" I said unsure at the end. Tecna shook her head "of course you shouldn't live carelessly but you need the experience, like right now, to grow as a person. Making mistakes aren't received that well but it makes you ,you" she explained to me. I kinda felt like a kid again, she was way smarter and wiser then me.
But then again she was right again, if I'm careful all my life I will probably miss a lot of stuff. Even if I do a mistake, I will grow from it later on with the experience. I shouldn't be to afraid to try things out but also shouldn't be to wild that I end up in jail or something. She looked ahead to the road and I decided I would do the same to not bump into another person but still wanted to continue our little chat. "Are you also planning to bring your stuff to alfea today?" I asked her.
She nodded and answered "it's the best day for it. On Monday is the welcoming ceremony with the teachers and we won't only get our schedule but probably homework or something along those lines. We won't really have time to come home without sacrificing something to be able to travel home. So today is the best day to bring our belongings to alfea. It's the also the only day left that teachers are available to talk to if you have questions or something of the sorts." I hummed in acknowledgment "so you want to ask the teacher something?" I asked, though unsure since that's just what I came up with from what she said.
"Yeah that's right. Miss Faragonda is our school headmistress and I wanted to ask her if I'm allowed to use my technology at class for taking notes" she told me. That sounded rather interesting. I looked at her with big eyes "technology? That's cool, not a lot of people in alfea work with technology. If I remember correctly the only classes we have with them is in second semester with Avalon and in first semester with mister palladium." her eyes shined as she smiled "exactly. Though sadly Mr. Palladium doesn't cover as much as I would hope, I'm already excited for second semester. I just hope he can teach more then I already know" she said with excitement. It was the first time that she seemed warm and happy, she must really like technology. I told her as much "You must really technology ,huh?" I asked her with a smile. She held her head high "of course I do, after all I'm the fairy of technology!" she said proudly. I gasped "oh really?!?! I didn't know it was possible... I heard Technology magic is rather rare and more known in Zenith. Though not a lot of people have it and the ones that do attend a private school on the planet..." I sighed with admiration. She laughed softly as she smiled brightly at me "that's because I'm from Zenith! Wow... If I'm honest I didn't know that it was so widely spread that technology magic was known to be on our planet" she said a little embarrassed but more proud so. "Oh well, I read about it in a book! Back when I was still figuring out what kind of magic I had I always read about what kind of magic existed and it would also state where it was most likely found and if it's rare or not." I explained to her. I loved to read even when I was a child, but back then I really wanted to figure out how to use my magic and see what kind of magic I possessed.
Now she looked at me with a slight interest "really? Well I'm glad to hear that you're well read. If I may ask in return, what kind of magic do you possess?" she asked me. I looked slightly embarrassed "I'm a flower and plant fairy" it wasn't as exciting as Tecnas magic since it was rather a healing magic and a defensive type. She still smiled at me "Well I believe that to be admirable. I know it's known to have been on earth, when fairies still roamed there, and on Linphea. So I will make the guess that you're from Linphea" she was really smart, only with that little information did she already figure out where I was from. I nodded in confirmation. "Well even if it's not that rare, I hear that it's a type of magic that is rather hard to learn and to control." she also seemed rather impressed with my magic. I smiled embarrassed "Ah well... I guess somehow every Magic is hard in some way or another... The Problem with my magic though is, that it's not really controllable. Of course I can summon plants and stuff with my magic but in nature magic it's rather the case that you need to work together with nature. Nature lives to so it also has a own mind. If you go against nature then your magic will work against you and not work." I explained to her. She slightly frowned "that sounds rather... Annoying. I couldn't imagine what it must be like. But I guess in that sense our Magic are literally speaking opposites. Yours is with nature and mine with technology." I nodded in agreement "yeah. Mine is alive and yours is artificially created" she smiled at that "I wouldn't want it any other way". I giggled "me too. It's exciting to work with nature. I'm already excited for the potions class in first semester with palladium." I now told her what I would be excited about.
"That's nice. We both have something to look forward to in alfea" she said with a happy expression. She then pointed to a store infront of us that read 'Bookworm', it was a bookstore. They made it really obvious with the name, though I could appreciate a reader pun. Also it was one of the names my dad had noted down on the paper he gave me.
"We're almost there. You just have to show her your list or give her the id of the books." she explained and before I could say something she added "I showed them the id with my phone. They can do both" I nodded. "Okay! Thanks Tecna..." I said but then realized this is where we would have to part ways. Tecna seemed to understand what I was thinking and held out her phone "you have a phone, right?" she asked, I nodded. "Oki good. Put your phone number in my phone. I would like to keep contact with you, since we understand each other rather well" she told me and smirked confidently.
I took out my phone and typed my phone number in her phone. After I was done I wrote 'flora' on top and then saved before I gave her her phone back.
She smiled as she looked at her phone "oki, well I guess we will see each other at alfea. I have to go and sort my stuff out in my dorm" she stated. I nodded, it felt like I nodded a lot today, and waved my hand "see you around in school" she waved back to me before she then went into the direction we came from. I hope I wasn't a bother, she had to go out of her way to help me to the bookstore. But I will assume that since she didn't complain that she also had a pleasant time like me, atleast I hoped so.
I went into the shop. I listened to Tecna's directions and went to the registration where I showed the person behind the counter the paper, that had the list of books I would need on it. A man, rather old, at the registration smiled at me before he typed something on his pc and then pointed to the stairs "the books you're searching for are all upstairs" he told me. I smiled in appreciation, he gave me back my list before I went upstairs. I just hope my father wasn't anxious waiting for me, since it took me longer than anticipated and he could as well be done already with getting the stuff for valerion with val....
