“You’re sure it’s okay for me to use my power like this?” Alec’s sister nervously asked, playing with the helmet that she had been given.
“Just do what they tell you how they tell you when they tell you and you’ll be fine,” he said, taking an exploratory nibble at some candy he’d traded with one of the off-world people for.
He tuned out the next batch of worried noises, he didn’t need to actually listen to know what they meant. Instead he focused on the candy. It clearly thought it was chocolate, with some sort of fruit flavor too? Weird aftertaste though.
Sensing his sister was winding down, Alec cut in. “Just remember, you’ve still got the monitor on, they’ll know what you do. Probably cameras too. Surveillance. You’re covered.”
His sister wrung her hands. “What if someone accuses me anyway though?”
Alec rolled his eyes. “These are the Faerie Queen’s—shoot, Valkyrie’s people, they know even you aren’t that dumb. Besides, worst case I’m sure Her Most Excellent Majesty could sort it out in like five seconds.”
“Oh god!”
Alec laughed. “Normally this is where I’d tell you it ain’t that big a deal but yeah, the first time I met her I almost shit myself. Even worse than when I met Accord.”
