Deprived of her throne and most of her magical powers, at least for the time being, Enthyreia, the Shadow Empress of Valystris, thought she was as good as dead when she awoke in a decrepit ruin, held at bladepoint by her two assailants. After circumstances (and a last-minute spell cast during their previous battle) force the three to work together, however, the trio soon finds themselves at the forefront of not only a divine prophecy, but also layers upon layers of schemes; both the schemes that were set in motion by the former masters of Enthyreia's new companions, as well as many more from the myriad other actors trying to leave their mark on the known world.
