A Siriusly Grim Time

Chapter 39

Notes:

Okay! This is VERY short, but it's a chapter.

Hopefully I'll be able to give ya'll more soon!

Chapter Text

Sirius stares. Stares at the boy who had captivated him so very easily, easier than Remus had begun to just the year before. Remus was a speck, a planet that wobbled on its axis and revoked around someone else. But this boy? He was a blackhole. Forcing you to pay attention to him even if you didn't want to. He was inevitable, everlasting, empowering, the kind of person that made you hold your breath just by looking at you. He stares into those green eyes, watching how they sparkle in the dim lighting of his room, how they get darker the closer to the center you look, how even his pupils suck in the light of the world, absorbing everything in their path.

A horcrux. A human horcrux. This boy, sitting right before him, this captivating boy full of energy and life…was holding the worst possible abomination within himself. He gulps, the saliva catching in his throat even as he tries to force it down his suddenly desert dry esophagus.

Horcruxes were one of the lessons from his family he actually remembers. Their history and creation so horrifying that it had made an imprint on his mind, so much so that he was forced to remember as Wallburga pounded the information within his skull with a brutality saved just for her first son. He remembers her smirk, her gleeful smile showcasing her yellow teeth and too wide eyes. The insanity curling the edges of those dark eyes brimming with joy, the crinkling edges made only from excess use of dark magic.

Even just the name of those things…made a slimy shiver slither up his spine. Like the dark magic was enveloping him

He shakes his head, no, no the magic wasn't on him, it was in the boy in front of him. He nearly gags, unable to understand how the boy had lived for so long. If it was him, Sirius shivers, he would have killed himself long ago. The echo of dark magic, black magic, soul magic, left an imprint. It would dig, bury itself in the recesses of you, force its will onto you slowly but surely, until even you didn't know what was it…and what was you

His wide silver eyes stare into those bright everlasting green ones, and she shudders. How long will he live? How long does he have? When Voldemort finds him…Sirius lets his head drop, hiding the few tears falling from his long lashes. How did this even happen? What was in this boy's past…what was he hiding from him so terrible it had caused a horcrux?

He gulps, shaking his head as he stands straight, staring into those striking green eyes as he demands, “tell me.”

Harry blinks, “what?”

“Tell what happened, everything. Tell me your life. I know some…but a horcrux? Harry…youve gone through things I likely couldn't even imagine, just…just tell me.

Tears form in his eyes and he shakes his head, "you'll hate me.”

Sirius stares in shock, “how could I possibly ever hate you?”

Harry lets a tear fall from his eyes as they meet those perfect silvery blue ones he loves so much, "I killed someone when I was eleven.”

And Sirius? Sirius doesn't know how to respond to that.

He swallows the little saliva left that hadn't dried up with the other boys statement.

“How?”

Harry bites his lip and looks away, “my professor in first year, Voldemort was possessing him, they were after the philosophers stone…I killed Quirrell trying to save it.”

Sirius crosses his arms and looks down at the other boy with such a severe expression it nearly hurts his jaw.

“You told us about first year…you left that part out.”

Harry winces, wringing his hand as he shifts his feet, “i didnt want..”

“Us to hate you? Harry, nothing you have done in your past could ever make us hate you. Nothing. Especially me. I'm not leaving, I'm with you until the end.”

Sirius grabs the boy gently, tucking him into his chest as he wraps his arms around him, “how about you tell everyone everything. Not all at once, but give a few more details over time, share your past with us, Harry, we want to know, even if it's painful.”

Harry laughs wetly, “it all is painful.”

Sirius only tightens his hold on the other boy, “then we’ll face it together, yeah?”

“yeah.”
