Chapter Text
The Avengers were sitting around the dinner table talking and eating food like normal before a pitch blackbird flew into an open window and landed on Loki's shoulder. It was carrying a rolled paper in its mouth. Loki took the letter from the bird before it vanished in a puff of smoke.
"I apologize, I know it's rude to receive letters at the table." Loki said and placed the roll into his pocket. Everyone moved on but Thor who just stared at his brother before sighing.
We all finished up our food and Loki left after putting his plate away.
“What are your plans tonight?” Tony's hand clapped down on my shoulder.
“Homework, I have that final project to finish.” I put my plate in the sink trying To avoid Steve fighting with the water dispenser.
“Come on kid, you're what? 18? On a Friday Night. Go out, party, do something.”
“If I do anything tonight it will be going on patrols.” I pushed Tony's hand away from me as he tried to ruffle my hair.
“Whatever you say, kid.” He poured himself a cup of way too expensive coffee and started for the elevator. “I'll be in the lab, join me if you want. Oh and be safe on patrol.” He shot finger guns at me as the elevator doors closed.
The other Avengers made their way out of the room at their own pace. Some made similar comments to me as Tony did.
My room was a mess perusal, but I found my laptop and notebooks before walking to the small library. Loki was in there sitting at one of the tables writing a letter.
“Homework time?” Loki asked as I sat at the other end of the table.
“Always.”
“How long until you graduate again?”
“Three weeks.”
“So three more weeks of that pest Flash?” I practically choked on air. How did he know about that? I've been able to keep the bullying under wraps for this long. Loki must have noticed my reaction and held up the rolled letter he revived. “Rune told me he followed you around yesterday.”
“Snitch.” I muttered, hoping he wasn't in here to hear me make the comment. “It's nothing to worry about, I can handle him.”
“If you would have told us, we could have made it stop.”
“So he could mess with someone else that doesn't heal as fast as me?” That was the only reason I tolerated Flash's behavior.
“You're too kind Peter.” He paused his writing and looked over at me. “But don't ever change.” He continued his writing after smiling at me.
“You won’t tell the others?”
“Lords no.”
“Thank you.”
“But I will if need to.” I only nodded at his comment and tried to focus on my project. But it was hard to focus. Ever since Rune stood in front of me in the locked bathroom I couldn't get him out of my head. He was undoubtedly Loki’s child. He wasn’t as pale as Loki but his hair was just as dark and his features drew the same sharpness. His hair was long and looked messy at first but it was intentional. The sides braided tightly back away from his face but the rest fell past his shoulders. He was gorgeous. And omg don’t get me started on his eyes. His two-tone eyes were unique on their own but the way he lined them with eyeliner made them so intense. It was like he could see into my soul if he wanted to. Wait. He’s been following me around! Does that mean?
“Loki, does Rune know about Spider-Man?”
“Yes, he said you have very peculiar nightly activities.”
Loki motioned over to the rolled-up letter as he was sealing the one he wrote. They are writing letters about me. Should I be honored or creeped out? I’m honestly not sure.
“He won’t tell anyone right?” I don’t know who he would tell but better safe than sorry I suppose.
“Rune holds more secrets than anyone in this realm.” Loki waved his hand and the same
blackbird appeared on the table. He rubbed its head before handing over his letter.
“That sounds awful.” I don’t enjoy keeping the secrets I have now, I wouldn’t want to hold on to whatever Rune does.
“It's part of being a Pureade.” The bird vanished. I need to ask about how that works eventually.
“What is a Pureade?” I read about some Norse mythology when Thor and Loki showed up on Earth all those years ago but I don’t remember Pureades being mentioned.
“They are an incredibly rare kind of magic user, not exclusively Norse, the other still alive now is Greek. They are capable of seeing how every person will affect the world and ensure that it happens. So if someone dies before leaving their mark on the world they can send them back.” Loki explained.
“So the secrets Rune has to keep is how anyone he talks to will impact the world.”
“Mostly. If you tell them It may not happen. But you should be working on your project.” I looked back at my laptop and it had gone to sleep.
“True.”
