Chapter Text
Hello there!
Author-san here! And don't worry, I'm not saying I'm abandoning the fic. But I'm sorry to say that is not another chapter.
Just something I thought would be cool and interesting to do. You know those MHA reaction fics? Well I'm not writing that, but I am writing a scene where this version of Izuku met the real, canon Inko. Or at least, one that people are most familiar with. Who has watched everything that Deku has endured.
Because, you know, this version of Izuku grew up with a raging alcoholic, neglectful mother.
It's crazy, I know, but I thought 'ah, you know what? Fuck it. Why not?'
Funny, because that's the exact same thing I said when I first created this fic.
And, besides, this can also be a sort of 'sneak peek' or glimpse of how Izuku will be like in the long future.
Anyways, here it is:
"What...?"
Izuku didn't know what happened. One moment he was lying on his bed, ready for a much needed nap after today's tiring process of creating more and more of his oh-so villainous inventions. And the next, he found himself lying on his old bed in his old apartment after feeling he had just been sucked in by something.
Izuku was bewildered. "My...old room?" He knew it was his old room since it was decorated head to toe with All Might merch, posters and action figures and such.
Seeing this, Izuku couldn't help but have a bittersweet feeling growing in his chest. Ever since having the time of his life as a villain, he had never once thought about his once life-long idol. It was all just...moving too fast. Ha, that pretty much described his life.
Things might've been really rocky ever since their fated talk on that rooftop, but they managed to finally understand each other during their talk. They both understood that they were both right and wrong. But they were on good terms with each other now, at least. Even though Izuku was a villain and All Might was a hero.
But now, his concern lied somewhere else. How did he get here? Or more importantly, what happened to everyone else?
Izuku sat at the edge of his bed and pulled out his phone to try and contact anyone. But to his further shock and worry, his phone showed him nothing but static like some old, run down TV.
He got up and went to the door. He was desperately wondering what had happened, or rather, what was happening. Was he in a dream? Some kind of virtual reality? Or was this the work of someone's quirk? Was Mei pulling another prank on him?
His eyes widened once he was reminded of his beloved girlfriend (and definitely future wife). He wanted to know where everyone else was at just as where and how he found himself back in his old apartment. As he opened the door and went outside hallways, his mind was reeling.
What happened to Mei? To his kids? To his minions? Or his league/family?
Izuku was ready to rush out the apartment door and find them until he heard a voice call out to him from the living room.
"Izuku."
Izuku's eyes widened and his posture froze. It was the voice he knew. The voice that haunted him to this day.
Her voice.
The voice belonging to the woman who told him those accursed words.
I wish you were never born!
Izuku's heart raced, his hands were shivering, his breaths were shaky and his eyes were wide in fear and pain as memories of each and every abuse he endured from his mother flashed in his mind.
Every hurtful word.
Every disdainful glare she gave him.
Every cruel silence.
Every hit he was drunkenly received with a bottle every time he would try to rekindle whatever's left of their broken relationship.
Every reminder of how she blamed him for her husband leaving them.
Even after everything he's gone through, after all his life-threateningly dangerous heists and fights, his historical accomplishments, gaining a family, everything...this was he truly feared. What truly haunted the proclaimed world's greatest villain.
Izuku couldn't take it.
He closed his eyes as he instinctively looked away, shaking and gritting his teeth as his mother was at the end of the hallways, near the kitchen.
"Izuku."
As she called out to him once again, Izuku flinched at every step approaching toward him. He was on the edge of reverting back to his old-self.
"Please...look at me."
Izuku's eyes snapped open and once again widened in shock. She sounded...different, than what he expected. More...caring. Soft.
And so, regaining his courage, he finally turned around to see the face of his mother, still expecting to see the wrathful, disdainful glare filled with disgust aimed at him. However, instead of that, he was met with something that surprised him.
"...Mom?" He asked with wide eyes as he finally faced his mother. His mother who looked...really different. She was much shorter and had gained more weight, it seems. But her appearance wasn't the only thing that shocked him. It was the way she was looking at him.
His mother had such a loving, yet pained look in her eyes. And she was smiling at him. It was sight Izuku had not seen of her since he was diagnosed quirkless. A painful nostalgic feeling tugged at Izuku's chest.
Inko's smile widened. "Yes, Izuku. It's me."
"You're...shorter." And dare he say, chubbier.
Inko chuckled. "Yes, I guess the years have really gotten to me, huh?"
Seeing her like this just caused Izuku to be even more confused. "What...happened? How are you here? How am I here? Are you...really my mom?"
Inko's smile turned sad. "It's...complicated. I am your mother, but not from your world."
Izuku was only further confused. "What? What does that mean?"
"Meaning that I am Inko Midoriya from another universe. The 'main' one, as I'm told." She answered, recalling what the deity who summoned her and everyone else told them.
Izuku's jaw dropped at the answer he was given. There was little doubt as the proof was standing right in front of him. This...this opened up so many possibilities! "What?! So, the multiverse theory is true?! How does it work?! Who told you?! How do you know you're the main one?! That'scrazy!Iwonderhowmanyalternateme'sareoutthere...muttermuttermutter..."
Inko couldn't help but let out a chuckle once again. Guess no matter what universe, Izuku is still Izuku, huh?, She thought in amusement of seeing her son's muttering habit be prominent in any universe.
"Anyways," She spoke up, catching his attention once again. "I had just been given the chance to meet you. I wanted to."
At this, Izuku got serious once again. "Why?" He asked cautiously and curiously.
"Because I've watched what you went through. What you went through with that...horrible woman." Inko's teeth gritted in growing anger and her glaring eyes bore through the wall beside her. She managed to keep it discreet though, as she did not want to become a sight that reminded Izuku of his universe's mother. Not at all.
Izuku's eyes widened as a painful feeling was growing inside. His hands were already shaking. "Wait, you mean you...you know. About my childhood? About what my mom put me through...?"
Inko nodded. "Everything. And I'm here to make you forget about that version of me. Fully." The mother nodded firmly. She admits that she has not been fully supportive of what her son's doing, but now she swears to have more faith and support her son fully. She will always try her best to help Izuku. Even if this wasn't exactly her Izuku.
And in this case, she was going to help and support his son by breaking the chains of scars and trauma that horrid woman has had on her son for so long. She closed the distance between her stunned son. "I am here for you, Izuku."
Her soft and caring voice rattled more the shaking Izuku who is trying to keep his emotions in check. "But...you're not my mom. Not the one from my world." Izuku said lowly. He was trying to rationalize that this was not his mom and if she tried to cheer him up or something, it'd only be the equivalent of another random stranger's words.
It was not his mom.
It was not...!
It...was...
"...Yes. You're right." Inko said sadly before closing the distance between her son who was closing his eyes in denial. She needed to tell him this. "It may not mean much from me since I'm not exactly your mother, but..."
Izuku watery eyes opened once he felt Inko's gentle hand cupping his right cheek and saw her looking at him with sympathy, pain...and love. "Izuku. I'm sorry. For everything."
Izuku's eyes widened.
Memories of his mother's abuse flashed through his head.
Echoes of her hurtful words...and her most hurtful wish.
All of them...began to erupt in ashy flames. Replaced with the face of the current Inko looking at him in motherly love and compassion.
"And no matter what you've become or done in any other universe," Tears were now rolling down Izuku's cheek and over her hand. "I love you."
Izuku closed his eyes, shakily grabbing the hand cupping his cheek, not able to stop the tears from coming. Inko pulled his face toward her shoulder and gave her son a warm hug before delivering the final words that finally got to him. "And I always will."
That did it.
The dam broke.
Izuku let out all his pent up feelings as he cried and cried and cried his heart out on his mother's shoulder. He couldn't remember the last time he cried like this.
His body went limp as he couldn't hold back anymore. He hugged Inko back.
This.
This is all he ever wanted to hear from her.
Not being chastised or cursing at him for being a worthless burden.
Not bragging how much she does for him even though providing clothes, putting foot on the table and having roof ever his head is the bare minimum for a parent to do.
Not snide, spiteful, or condescending comments.
Not threats about being hit.
Not bashing or dismissing him for his dream.
.
.
Not even her hearing her say 'yes! You can be a hero, too, Izuku!' during that fateful night when he was diagnosed quirkless.
.
.
This. This is all he wanted to hear. Needed to hear.
Just the real love of a parent. And a heartfelt apology for all the wrongs.
Just to be told, 'I love you and I'm sorry.'
Izuku held onto the other version of his mother for dear life. He knows it's not the real her, but he didn't care. He wanted to savor this as long as he could.
Inko continued to hug the other version of her son with a loving embrace, wanting whatever it took to heal her son's broken heart and painful scars. A few tears began to shed from her own eyes as well.
They were inseparable this very moment.
Soon after the emotional breakdown, they managed to get a hold of themselves. Izuku wiped away his tears and smiled. "Thanks." He said with such genuine sincerity.
"No problem, Izuku." Inko said, wiping her own tears as well. "How do you feel?"
"...Better." He hesitated to say.
Inko could tell that Izuku was still pained, but she understood. Healing took time, after all. Especially one of this caliber. Scars don't fade away that quickly. It was a long process but hopefully her actions accelerated it greatly.
"That's good." Inko said. "And, Izuku...I'm also very proud of you."
Izuku was once again taken aback. His eyes were watering once again as he heard the other words he desperately wanted to hear. "M-Mom...please don't. I don't know how my eyes could handle crying anymore. They're gonna go dry at that point." He rubbed his eyes, joking to hold himself together.
Inko chuckled light-heartedly. "We're Midoriyas, Izuku. It's in our blood."
Izuku chuckled too, but then got curious once he realized something. "But...if you said that you've been watching me. So, you know that I'm a...villain, right? And...you're proud?" He asked with genuine confusion.
Inko let out a smile as she nodded. "Yes. But you're not like any other villain. You're the greatest one!"
Her words actually caused Izuku to blush.
Inko chuckled and continued. "You're intelligent, Izuku. And you're a master at making technologies and inventions and stuff I could never understand. You've succeeded greatly in what you do and I could only be so proud of you."
Izuku smiled warmly. Rubbing his teary eyes once again over Inko's heartfelt words.
His broken heart that had been glued due to his newfound family...was beginning to vanish and heal completely.
He then proceeded to do what he felt like wanting to do. Izuku took off his scarf and comfortably wrapping it Inko's neck with gentleness.
"Izuku?" Asked the taken aback Inko.
"A gift. To remember me by when you go back to your world." He answered with thoughtfulness and generosity.
Inko couldn't help but feel genuinely touched by Izuku's gift, her eyes wide with shock and elatedness. Her hand gripped the scarf with firmness and protection. Even after becoming a villain, her son was still as considerate as ever. Her mind desperately wondered just how could this kind boy could be treated the way he was treated.
Oooh, if I get my hands on that other me..., Inko's eyes had a dangerous glint as she was thinking about all sorts of ways she could...deal with her alternate self using her quirk. That alcohol won't be the only thing that's killing her...
She shook her head, not wanting to dwell on the negative. She looked at Izuku and began to shift to another topic she was curious about.
"Still, I'm not sure how I feel knowing that I'm a grandmother at this age." She said with a nervous, but light-hearted chuckle as she rubbed the back of his head. She's pretty she the other her was shocked to know as well.
And that would be the only thing they would have in common.
Izuku's eyes widen in surprised before he rubbed the back of his head in a sheepish manner. "R-Right...my kids." He said with a little embarrassment.
"I would tell you that what you're doing is incredibly irresponsible, but you don't really care about that, don't you? You are a villain, after all." She said so with light-hearted exasperation. "But...I saw how great you treat them, even if it was a little bumpy at the start, and how they look up to you as a father. So...I accept your situation. And, I'm very happy that you found a people who love and accept you."
She then donned a teasing grin. "Even a girlfriend~. Plan on marrying her?"
Izuku sputtered as his face went beet red. He struggled to give a proper response. "I-I-I-W-Well-"
Inko laughed. "Don't worry, honey! You don't have to answer. I know. And you have my blessings." She said further causing Izuku to muster a blushing storm.
"I was also shocked to see how well you actually did as a parent. Which, I shouldn't be too surprised considering how you've dealt being with those...minions of yours." She said, remembering those...bizarre small, yellow creatures that Izuku has.
Izuku just let out a huff. "You don't know the half of it."
Inko's tone then turned low and genuine. "Still, being a grandmother..." She held her chest. Even if the situation was a lot to handle, the feeling she got when revealed that she was going to be a grandmother was a feeling she would never forget. "My...grandkids...I would love to meet them."
Izuku hesitated, but answered honestly. "I'm sure they'd love you." He said before smiling. "The fact that you're this shocked means that...your me didn't do this, huh? Speaking of that..."
He held his chin. "What about the other me? What's happening with your Izuku?" He asked of what was going on with his counterpart. He curiously wondered how an interaction between him and his other self would go.
"...He's an amazing hero. I'm very proud of him."
Izuku snorted. "That me is very lucky."
Suddenly, Izuku's figure began to disintegrate and fade away like dust in the wind. Izuku was horrified until Inko reassured him that it was nothing serious.
"It's okay, Izuku. " She said with a slightly sad tone. "I guess our time is up."
"I'm...going back to my world?" Izuku asked, sad that his meeting with this other version of his mother that was the opposite of his was over. It was inevitable, of course, but still saddening.
"Yes." Inko confirmed.
Izuku was sad, but before he went, Inko went up to him and brought his face closer to hers to give him a kiss to the forehead, getting his spirits up.
She looked up at him with a loving smile. "It's okay, Izuku. Just know that I will always love you no matter what."
Izuku smiled at her. "Yeah, okay...I love you, too."
With that, their interaction ended on a positive note and Izuku was no more.
So, yeah, this just something I came up on a whim. Did I have a reason for making this? Nah, but I did it anyway.
I hope you enjoy it as you wait for the next real chapter.
If you want to write your own stories about this concept or make something like this but with other characters or whatever, you're free to write them in the comments!
Anyways, Happy belated new years, everyone!
Just wanted something to start off the new year.
