Summary
Governor Tarkin has enough on his plate as it is. Times are rapidly changing, and the Empire is growing stronger as the days pass. A new Intelligence Officer is appointed to the governor's command, and one wonders how will the two get along. He has never made it a secret how he feels about Force-users, even if he hides behind pleasantries and the neutrality in his words. There's only one exception to the rule: Lord Vader, but could there ever be another in the future?
(The reason this story is listed as "not canon compliant" is because one of the main characters, who's also an original creation of mine, just so happens to be a Sith. It isn't a far stretch to imagine that Lord Vader wasn't the last of his kind. Emperor Palpatine AKA Darth Sidious destroyed the rule, anyway — so, let's break it a little more where Sith are concerned. Besides, Vader and the Inquisitors are busy hunting down the remaining Jedi. Tarkin made a comment to Vader in Episode 4 about him being the "last of his religion," but this particular story only further obliterates that notion. Also of note, this obviously takes place after the promotion of Tarkin's protégé and former lover, Natasi Daala. The two are no longer together.)
