Chapter Text

Her gaze was steady outside the night city life below, while the blaring of the helicopters could be heard in a buzz through the NRA headphones. She was momentarily distracted by the beautiful scenery before her, until her reality was shattered by his endearing chuckle that rings inside her NRA headset.

"Ha...you look like a rat whose been dunked under mud water~"

Luna deadpans, trying hard to not look at the man beside her, whom obviously was enjoying her miserable state, 'Well somebody didn't let me change out of my disguise...so it's not my fault I look like a wet rat you bastard!'

But of course, Luna wouldn't dare to tell that to the notorious Male Lead, Sylus—even though he clearly insulted her.

Instead all she could do was bite her tongue and try to warm herself as much as possible. Everything was uncomfortable, the way the muddy dress stuck dangerously close to her body, her nose cold & runny, the drenched wig sticking closely to her face. She is close to crashing out.

'Let's just pretend he's not here—'

"Mister Sylus, we have arrived,"

Luna focused her gaze back at the window besides her, her eyes land upon a remote island she assumed was Atley Island. She could tell how luxurious the place was. It was the first she's ever seen it, as she had only seen it be mentioned in the game once.

'I don't remember the game mentioning this sort of event...so I don't know what to expect,' Luna had begun to feel a tad bit nervous, feeling the turmoil of the helicopter once it lands in a secluded area. The sun had begun to set alongside the horizon, illuminating a golden hue across the island and it's waters. She had wish she could enjoy the view more, but she was brought back to reality when Sylus throws his headset her way. She barely manages to catch it without it breaking.

A couple of figures emerge to welcome them, opening the door for Sylus. His face remained poised, walking out like it was the most natural thing in the world. Luna on the other hand, peers from her seat with a frown, shrinking away from view.

"Welcome Mister Sylus. Would you like to have dinner first?" An elderly man wearing a caterer uniform, fancy and neat that befitted Sylus's style, had welcomed him with a curt bow. Sylus glances at him briefly, while the other figures come in to hand him a tablet, muttering something his way which urges a deep chuckle from him. He shuts off the tablet.

"I'll have dinner now, preferably indoors," Sylus surveys the area with a quick glance, eyes that were seeking out possible dangers. He found nothing for the time being. He hands the tablet over.

The elderly man peers over towards the helicopter, making Luna flinch at his gaze, "What about your guest?"

Sylus's brows twitch, now his eyes lingering towards the two familiar figures that eagerly awaited for his approval. He lets out a smirk, lifting his hand over dismissively, "Let the Twins deal with her,"

Luna had no time to react, not when two pair of overly familiar masks sprout before her vision. In blink, Luna was escorted out of the helicopter gently with two different yet similarly hands.

'Huh?'

She had no time to think either, quickly bombarded with left and right questions from the notorious twins, Luke & Kieran

"You're Lieutenant Luna right?"

"Why do you have a wig?"

"That's a wig? Ew, it's all sloppy!"

"She's all drenched up! Let's go!"

They're endless rambling was difficult to keep up, especially when they were dragging her along the corridor of the villa. The twins had helped guide her to her guest room for the time being. A suite lavished with all the necessary essentials for her stay, from a closet filled with various clothing, to a never ending supply of  shampoo & conditioner that could last her a life time. She had almost felt like it was too good to be true.

"The best suite for you Miss Lieutenant Luna!!"

"Only the best!"

Luna sweats, turning to the young boys with a bit of a worried look. She had finally take a better look at the twins she had witnessed their chaotic ordeal through the Main Story. Identical masks that covered their faces(to hide the scar that differentiated them from one another), yet their usual attire she had gotten used to seeing in the Main Story was vastly different. These boys were much more smaller, their voices much higher and lighter. Young boys that had escaped from their demise in the hands of EVER.

Luna could feel her heart tug at these boys' unfortunate upbringing, they were just kids...

"Luke...Kieran..." She murmurs, voice barely coming out as a whisper. Her reality once more had shattered her mind, these characters she had grown to love through the game, are real people whom had encountered heartbreaking moments. Each and every one of them living in their own twisted fate, fighting to remain strong against any odds. Her mind reels back the eventful events from days ago...remembering both William and Damian—NPCs who have their own life, their own emotion.

Luna hadn't realized her own churning expression, which urges the twins to peer at her curiously at her bizarre reactions. They usher closer, each one perking with a question.

"Miss Lieutenant Luna are you hurting somewhere?"

"Do you need a first aid kit!? I'll go get it!!"

Luna stops them before they leave, "N-No...! I'm fine, just a bit tired,"

She rubs her dreary face, now feeling the effects of the long day taking a toll on both her body and emotions. Luna was always composed, and yet just like before...that façade she had kept on for these past couple of days had started to crumble. Was she still feeling sentimental after everything?

"I'm just glad the two of you are safe & sound," Luna gives a small reassuring smile, hoping to mask her mellow response, "Please continue to stay healthy & strong,"

Despite their face being covered with masks, Luna could easily tell they were confused based on the way they tilt their head in sync by her statement. She chuckles at their antics, she chooses not to elaborate any further.

After pleading and thinking about being all snuggled & warmed up in a nice bath...Luna had found her source of happiness under this luxurious villa. Being stripped away from the sticky wig & damp dress had brought such relief. While also provided with the most excellent service she couldn't even fathom for her entire life. Luna was having such a good time she had momentarily forgotten why she was here stuck inside a villa located in Atley Island.

But she would rather not think about that at the moment, especially not when she was enjoying a lavishing feast provided to her by the excellent star chefs of the villa. With food such as this...Luna could almost forgive all the wrongdoings that have happened over the past couple of hours.

—Almost.

She found herself back to her suite; transparent tablet in hand, scrolling through the endless files of the executives that will attend the private banquet held in this island. The Protocore auction that will be hosted by none other than Hohenheim—who so happens to be an EVER researcher and philosopher. Again, this sort of information hadn't been shown in the game, making her feel slightly uneasy.

'Does he plan to wipe them all out?' Luna could only worry at those thoughts. Sylus plans to infiltrate the banquet on the day it is hosted. Which is in exactly 24 hours of now. Luna was instructed to stay put and prepare for when he summons her. In the meantime, she had found herself with the twins whom haven't left her side.

"Miss Lieutenant Luna Miss!"

"Miss Boss Lady Lieutenant Luna!!"

Luna silently deadpans at the way the twins had been addressing her these past couple of minutes. And it seems that the name they had been calling her had gotten much more longer than before.

"You don't need to address me so formally," Luna states, settling the tablet down to face the young boys, "Just call me by my first name, it makes things a lot easier,"

The twins then turn to face each other, they seemingly sync their thoughts together, nodding affirmatively before turning to face her again.

"If you're saying that then—"

"—Can we call you Big Sis??"

Luna almost chokes on her spit.

Out of all things....being called Bug Sis by the twins Luke & Kieran was the last thing she had expected. Or rather...why would they want to address her in such a way?

She coughs, trying to clear her throat, "W-Well...is there a reason why you want to call me that?"

'At this rate I'd rather be called `Miss Boss Lady Lieutenant Luna`...no wait that's actually worse,' Luna fights within her thoughts, trying so hard not to cringe. Unlike her turmoil thoughts, the Twins seem to think otherwise.

They lean in together, as she swore she could see them grinning behind their mask. And in sync, they both do a cute little claw like pose.

"Because you're super cool!"

Luna deadpans again, a bit confused with their questionable reasoning. But at the end of the day, she had to remind herself that they were just kids, teenagers whom had escaped their inevitable fate as experiments of EVER. Rather than disregarding them, Luna could only let out a quiet sigh, a smile daring to paint across her stoic face—subtle but it was there. She will listen to their request this time.

"I supposed you can call me that,"

"Y-You can't be serious?! You're going to get caught!"

"Which is why I need you to weaken the security for the time being,"

A familiar Linkon Hunter was seen situated near a window of a flower shop. Despite his loosen stance, his expression shown otherwise—strained as he glares at the colored magazine in hand. The hunter wasn't a huge fan of the woman who was displayed on the infamous cover—hence his plan to break in into that said woman's home.

It was perfect escapade because she wasn't home for the time being. Where is she now? He couldn't care any less about her whereabouts...what mattered right now at this moment was to sneak inside in hopes to find any clues about her suspicious presence. He needed to reveal her cards—her true colors.

"Xavier! Seriously you're not thinking this through...!" The other continues to scold, his gaze fixated on the Hunter named Xavier—a Lightseeker whose life has been extended for such a long period of time. They whom are now stuck on current Earth with the remainder of what's left of them.

Xavier waves the magazine slightly over towards the one who had been scolding him these past couple of minutes, Jeremiah, "Says the one whose been reading this magazine nons—"

"—I-I had no other choice!" Jerimiah stutters, snatching away the magazine with his face tainted with red, "You t-told me to investigate her right? There isn't much to her so I was wondering if the interview would tell me more about her!"

Xavier doesn't seem to take his word for it, seemingly scoffing at the way Jerimiah tries to even out the wrinkled pages with a pout. Seems like Jerimiah too had fallen for the Lieutenant Luna propaganda.

Jerimiah sighs, setting down the magazine carefully and away from Xavier, now turning to look at his companion, "I can only withhold security for 30 minutes, will that be enough?"

Xavier stands from his seat, ground steady as he eyes his hunter's watch for the remainder of his time. In his mind he counted, firm & determined to find the answers Lieutenant Luna was hiding.

"It's more than enough,"
