To the Empire State Building security network –
My name is Jerry Hernandez and I am a resident of Brooklyn, although I live quite close to Manhattan. Recently I and several other New York City residents have become concerned after the Manhattan Big Sleep incident last August. As it is now May, it has been quite a while since the incident, but many are still looking for answers as to what happened at the base of the ESB on the evening of August 17 to the morning of August 18 – several teenagers wielding weaponry like baseball bats and firearms were seen fighting in what appeared to be some sort of gang conflict. As the New York City government has yet to respond to queries about the conflict, citizens are pleading for the CCTV footage of the incident to be publicized, particularly the footage recorded by cameras in the ESB.
Our petition (here) has received several thousand signatures. The people of New York City want for this footage to be released, and as it is information concerning a city-wide incident that could pose potential dangers to residents, we are legally entitled to information concerning what happened the day of the Manhattan Big Sleep.
Please, get back to me as soon as possible. We hope from a response from you soon.

Your request has been received. Unfortunately, we will have to deny you rights to CCTV footage of August 17-18 until you can provide an adequate legal reason. This is due to the fact that the release in footage may result in the faces of minors and other non-consenting citizens being publicized. If you can present legal evidence or argument that it is public right to view this footage, we will have to keep all video recordings private.

"Ooh, damn," said Eileen lightly. "Girl at six o'clock looks like she means business."
Andy turned. They were on security shift. The Empire State Building. It was a crowded day, but this girl kind of stuck out in the crowd. Not because of the way she was dressed or even the official-looking manila folder she was holding, but more because of the hawklike look in her eyes. Intense. Businesslike.
As she neared closer, Andy realized that she wasn't alone. There were three people behind her. None of them looked related – there was a tall athletic-looking blond guy, some old dude who might have been around forty and a young adult with short curly hair. The girl herself had black hair pulled in a strict ponytail and an arching nose. She clutched the folder tightly – the edges of crisp white paper peeked out of the top – and approached them with clear direction.
"Can I help you, ma'am?" Andy asked lazily, and the girl gave him a dead look with brown eyes.
"Can I please speak to your manager? Or the equivalent? Some authority?"
Damn. A typical Karen-like request. She was trying too hard to be polite, judging by the number of question marks tacked on to her words, though, so Andy cut her some slack.
"What for, please?" Eileen asked. Taking initiative as always – she was senior to Andy, anyways.
"Concerning a security request and legal matter," the girl said firmly.
Eileen and Andy shared looks.
"And so," Anika said, slapping the open folder – which bore nice legal evidence and reasoning printed in smooth Times New Roman on white paper – as she locked eyes with the manager, "that is why we are legally entitled to the publication of the CCTV footage of the Manhattan Big Sleep."
Her three comrades had kind of just... fallen back while she did her thing, all looking equally smug, surprised, and mildly impressed. Possibly, they hadn't known what their own spokesperson was capable of.
The manager stared, openmouthed. There were a couple seconds of silence.
"...You know what?" she said finally in a measured voice. "This is something I might need to discuss with, uh, higher-ups. Let me get back to you in..." she swallowed. "Two or three business days?"

We have footage of the MBS incident, given by the ESB security network! They have only permitted us one hour of footage in a motion of good faith. It is black and white and not very good quality but hopefully we can figure it out!
[Video: A grainy monochrome recording taken from the ceiling corner of what appears to be the Empire State Building lobby. In the video, at first, the lobby is completely empty, although shadows flicker in the reflection of the door, indicating that movement is happening outside. Then, suddenly, the doors burst open and two figures with indistinguishable faces run in and take the elevator. One of them holds what appears to be a baseball bat and the other holds something that vaguely resembles a staff. A few minutes pass. Then four other figures come in and do the same, one of them holding what looks like a shotgun, one holding what resembles a rifle, and one clearly holding a knife, while the fourth remains unarmed.]

Hecate bristled. Maybe she shouldn't have reminded him of the Poseidon kid. She'd underestimated their... friendship. If you could call a relationship between a demigod and a god 'friendship'. So, actually, in all totality, this was really not Hermes feeling provoked because Hecate had trivialized one of his friendships but more like Hecate had just pushed one of Hermes' very sensitive buttons, and now he seemed determined to reveal Olympus and cause the second – although worldwide – occurrence of the Salem Witch Trials, Greek edition. Or Roman edition. Greco-Roman?

Hi – warning for mention of su/c/de as the post goes on, although it's very brief.
I am a high school teacher at a private school in New York City. About five months ago, one of my students disappeared – calling him PJ to keep his identity safe. He went away for winter break and never came back. Coincidentally, his stepdad is also a teacher and one of my colleagues (let's call him P) but has said that his stepson is simply missing and they have no explanation for why. P and his wife have provided no information except that PJ was on a trip and never came back. While he is presumed alive, students are gossiping HEAVILY and have basically spread the assumption that he's dead.
I'll be completely honest - PJ never really had many friends. He had kind of a reputation for being a trouble kid, and had been kicked out from many schools and all. The overarching rumor at the school is that he either k/lled himself or got mixed up in a bad crowd, like a gang or something. either way, I'm kind of concerned, given the gossip, but mostly i'm shocked by the disrespect. any suggestions to get the gossip flows to stop?

u/EBeforeI: Jesus christ, good luck to the kid and i hope you find him soon. i won't be sleeping well tonight after hearing this. anyways, best suggestion right now? knock some respect into the kids by reminding them how serious this is. it's not a joke. he could be quite literally dead.
