Summary
“Hey, baby, sorry I didn’t call,” Jason slurs. The words don’t sound much like English through the lingering sedative and the broken nose and split lip, but the Soldier has had plenty of practice understanding people who are trying to speak through sedatives and broken noses and split lips. He’s fluent. The words still don’t make any sense, though.
The Soldier prowls closer, moving cautiously around the chair until he can nudge the green-haired corpse with a none-too-gentle toe.
Jason lets out a soft, wounded noise that echoes in the empty warehouse. One bright turquoise eye is wide; the other is swollen shut.
“You’re not Clint,” he says, shaky.
The Soldier lifts his hand in an awkward greeting, realizes it’s still holding a gun, and promptly lowers it again to fire the remaining two bullets into the green-haired man’s heart.
