Chapter 1: Drinking (In Secret)
Chapter Text
Poppy and Viva were never allowed alcohol.
Ever.
They’d begged Branch and Clay to allow them to be able to drink it on a daily basis, but their respective boyfriends always, always said no.
Literally.
And that day was like every other, when all four of them stood outside of Bruce’s restaurant on Vacay Island on a monthly visit. Both girls had gone into a pleading mode, hands clasped together as they gave their best ‘can you please let us have alcohol’ faces.
“No, you can’t have alcohol,” Clay spoke. “I’ve told you that before. You know full well why you’re not allowed it.”
“What about me?” Poppy asked.
Branch folded his arms, looking stern. “Same goes for you, Pop.”
The sisters shared a glance with one another. It was time to try their next attempt at trying to get their boyfriends to let them have alcohol:
Giving their boyfriends their best puppy dog eyes, followed by pecks on their cheeks and the simple question of, “Please…..?”
But that still didn’t yield the answer they were hoping for. “Still no.”
“Please?” the sisters repeated, hoping they would give in.
But Branch and Clay stood firm. “No,” they said. “That answer is final.”
Poppy and Viva opened their mouths to ask again, when the familiar voice of Bruce was heard, grabbing the attention of them, Branch and Clay.
“Branch! Clay!” the purple haired Troll had called out. “Could you help me out! It’s important!”
Their attempts at trying to tell Poppy and Viva not to have alcohol quickly faded away, as they turned to Bruce.
“What’s going on, dude?” Clay asked.
“A couple of my kids got into an accident, Brandy’s not around, and I need someone in my kitchen whilst I deal with that accident.”
“How long?” Branch asked, after sharing a brief look with Clay.
“Until I’ve fully handled things.”
Oh Troll. There went any future potential attempts at telling Poppy and Viva that they weren’t allowed alcohol. Except one more of course.
“No going to find the alcohol,” both males warned as they headed off with Bruce.
The sisters obviously weren’t going to listen to Branch and Clay, grinning at each other before snickering and hurrying off to find Floyd and/or John Dory. If Branch and Clay wouldn’t let them have alcohol, who was to say that Floyd and John weren’t the same way?
They found Floyd first, the pink and white haired Troll relaxing on the sand with his arms behind his head and his eyes focused on the sunset and the wish you were here beside it. The sisters stopped, standing over him with huge grins on their faces. This caused him to look up at them, startled into silence. A silence that lasted around a minute or so before he broke it.
“Girls? What are you—”
“We need to find the alcohol!” Viva spoke, cutting Floyd off.
Floyd knew what this was all about. “You guys are going behind Branch and Clay’s backs again, aren’t you?”
The sisters looked at one another briefly. “No…?” they said in unison.
“I know a lie when I hear it, you know.” Floyd swiped a hand through his bang to push it off to the side, looking between Poppy and Viva. “What’s with you wanting alcohol when you know you’re not allowed it?”
“We just want to drink it for once, for fun, but we don’t know where—”
“I know where the alcohol is, you two,” Floyd laughed quietly as he stood up, changing his mind, cutting Viva off. “Bruce showed me an hour ago.”
Yes! Poppy and Viva grinned at one another, pumping their fists in the air before they looked back at Floyd, the grins they sported remaining evident on their faces.
“Maybe you can have some with us?”
Floyd tilted his head. “Have some with you?” he repeated. Was that even a good idea?
Poppy nodded. “Us, you and John Dory,” she said. “We’d ask Bruce, but he’s busy and will just let Branch and Clay know.”
“Girls, you know John Dory isn’t allowed alcohol either.”
“Doesn’t mean he won’t want to join us,” Poppy said before she and Viva grabbed hold of Floyd’s hands and pulled him towards where they’d seen John and Rhonda.
Seconds passed before they came to a stop and let go of Floyd, it nearly causing him to end up on his stomach on the sand.
“John, John. Come with us.”
“Go with you where?” John asked, turning to the sisters and Floyd, who had since stood and dusted himself off.
“To the bar area. We’re in a drinking mood.”
“You guys aren’t allowed it!” John stressed.
“Neither are you apparently, but that’s not going to stop us.”
“Do you know about this, brother?” John asked, turning to Floyd.
Floyd rubbed at the back of his neck, laughing. “Believe me, John. They pressured me into it and I had to give in.”
“Branch and Clay…”
“…don’t need to know. We’re keeping this from them.”
“What—?”
“Now, come join us before Branch and Clay find out!” Viva called out as she, Poppy and Floyd hurried off.
“Guys, wait!” John shouted as he rushed after them, Rhonda following behind him.
By the time he caught up with them, swinging his way up to the bar by use of his hair, Poppy, Viva and Floyd were all already sat there with an open bottle of wine and three small glasses full of it sitting just inches away from him, giving him looks of encouragement. A fourth glass was sitting there waiting for him, completely empty. He stopped, eying the glass and wine before looking at the others, who motioned to the glass.
John had no choice, did he?
With no second thought, he joined the others and poured himself a glass of wine before setting it off to the side. With no question, the four of them gave a cheers before they each took a sip.
Then another.
And another.
And another.
“FLOYD, JOHN DORY!” the sudden voices of their brothers sounded out and stopped them short, their glasses still in their hands. They paled and looked at
“I think we need to go explain things, don’t we?” Floyd whispered.
John Dory shook his head. “You go, Floyd. I’ll stay here with Poppy and Viva,” he whispered back to him. “There’s no way we’re leaving them in here by themselves because they’re just going to drink more and more alcohol if we’re not in here.”
Floyd said nothing in response and nodded as he swung his way off the counter of the bar and joined his other brothers outside.
His sudden appearance startled Bruce, Clay and Branch. “Something wrong, brothers?”
“Floyd, have you seen Poppy and/or Viva?”
“No…” the pink and white haired Troll lied, hiding it. “Why?”
“We came back and they weren’t there.”
Floyd fell silent, shuffling his feet as he looked to the side.
“You better not have shown Poppy and Viva the alcohol, bro!” Bruce said.
Floyd just laughed nervously.
“FLOYD!” Branch and Clay shouted.
Chapter 2: Argument (In All Seriousness)
Chapter Text
They had demanded him to take them to Poppy and Viva, wanting to have a serious talk with both of the girls. Yet it wasn’t long before they realized something else was wrong. There was no sign of…
“John…?” Bruce asked, looking around. “Has anyone seen John?”
Floyd again laughed nervously, glancing towards the ground. His brothers gave him confused but frustrated looks, after looking at one another.
A silence hit, lasting until Floyd broke it.
“What?”
Branch held his hands up. “Please don’t tell us you…”
Floyd hung his head. “Yes, I left him in there with Poppy and Viva.”
“Floyd, why?” Branch stressed.
Clay agreed, “Yeah, why, dude?”
“Did you not consider our older brother wasn’t…?” Bruce sputtered.
Floyd shook his head. “Someone had to stay in the bar with Poppy and Viva, brothers…” he said. “Who else…”
Branch rolled his eyes. “Oh, I don’t know, maybe you?”
“You’d understand something was wrong.”
“Not him too?”
Floyd nodded sadly.
“Okay, we’re talking to all of them,” Branch growled, stomping towards the bar with Bruce and Clay following behind.
Floyd was given no choice, was he? Given as he rushed after his brothers knowing there would be a fight he would ultimately have to break up.
By the time Floyd got there, his brothers, Poppy and Viva were in a full on argument.
Just as he feared.
Floyd stayed silent as he listened carefully, waiting for the right moment to step in.
“I can’t believe you decided it was a good idea to have alcohol.”
“It was our now not so fantastamazing idea at first,” Viva snapped, sharing a momentary glance with Poppy. “We got not only John Dory involved, but Floyd as well.”
“John and Floyd?” Bruce repeated.
“Guys, please. Can we talk about this more calmly?”
Poppy drank some more alcohol, getting more energized with Viva following suit. This of course agitating Branch even more than he already was.
“What the hell, you guys? That’s why you’re not allowed alcohol!”
Viva smirked from where she sat on a higher shelf, swinging her legs back and forth. “You let me have milkshakes…”
“Milkshakes are different, ma’am.”
Poppy pointed at Branch. “And you let me have coffee with candy in it.”
“That is also different.”
“What about John?” Viva said. “He seems happy drinking alcohol.”
“Believe me.” John Dory poured himself another glass. “I’ve been drinking since I left the Troll Tree.”
Clay tilted his head. “You drank alcohol as a teenager and none of us knew about that? Not even grandma?”
“What?” John Dory held his hands up. “I was 19 and the Neverglades were near Lonesome Flats!”
“Forget about this getting drunk stuff!” Bruce snapped. “You destroyed my bar! All three of you.”
Viva had since jumped down from the shelf she was sitting on in order to join everyone else. “We’re sorry if this mess happened. Alcohol just makes us way too energetic and we’re being serious when we say that.”
“Alcohol isn’t supposed to make people energetic, it’s supposed to—”
“Except if they’re already energetic.”
“If you want energy, drink something that isn’t alcohol.”
“ENOUGH!” Floyd shouted out, stopping the argument and grabbing the attention of everyone else. He let out a sigh of relief. “Can we all talk about this in a way that isn’t getting in another argument?”
“How are you so calm after who knows how much you drank?”
“Because that’s how alcohol works,” Floyd said. “I drink whenever I’m angry or stressed to calm myself down.”
Branch pointed at him. “I bet you fifty dollars that there was no alcohol on Mount Rageous.”
Floyd walked over and poured himself another glass. “I went down to the suburbs.”
“And you’re having more alcohol why?”
“Because this argument made me angry,” Floyd said, sipping it.
“And this argument is continuing.”
In the midst of the arguing the brothers were now doing, Poppy and Viva turned to one another with matching grins.
“You thinking what I’m thinking, sis?”
“You bet.”
Before any of the others could ask Poppy or Viva what they were talking about, the sisters turned their attention towards them with matching grins on their faces.
“ALCOHOL PARTY!” both sisters shouted at once.
Bruce looked dumbfounded. “What in the hell is an alcohol party?”
“You’ll see,” the sisters said.
“See what?”
The girls rushed over to the alcohol again, dodging their boyfriends’ arms as they tried to stop them.
“I’m serious when I’m asking what we’re going to see.”
“Which of us can drink the most alcohol in five minutes.”
“And you’re never going to catch us!” Poppy called over her shoulder as she and Viva drank more alcohol than they should have.
Then they were all over the place. Dodging Branch, Clay and Bruce as they tried to grab hold of them. It just made the three of them frustrated and Floyd and John were watching confusedly.
“Get back here!”
“Never!” Poppy shouted as she and Viva swung their way up to the same shelf Viva was sitting on earlier.
Bruce folded his arms, looking to be stern. “If you mess my bar up again, I’ll refuse to let you in here.”
But it was of no use. They’d made a bigger mess as they grinned at the brothers.
“Poppy! Viva!”
