Fanfiction Etiquette
Hello, my dear readers,
I know many of you are eagerly waiting for the next update, but I feel that as a member of the DraMione community, I must use my platform to speak up. These past few weeks have been incredibly heavy for me as a reader. We have witnessed multiple authors pulling their stories from public platforms— some for personal reasons, but many because they are being treated as commercial products rather than creators of a labour of love. The recent situations surrounding the authors of 'Cherry Mint' and 'Lionheart' are heart-breaking examples of this shift.
Reading fanfiction has always been my escape, my sanctuary. While the details of some of the most traumatic moments of my life have faded, I vividly remember laying in bed for days, crying all day but always reading fictions until my eyes grew heavy with sleep. Those writers unknowingly helped me navigate the lowest points of my life, offering an escape route and break when I needed it most, when my mind wasn't strong enough to face reality. To see such brilliant creators facing harassment or the cold scrutiny of commercial rating systems breaks my heart into pieces.
I know many of you are aware of these events, while others may only know half the story or nothing at all. Regardless, given the current situation of our fandom, I felt I couldn't stay silent. We must remember that these stories are gifts, and the people behind them deserve our respect and protection.
