"Yoshiki!" Hikaru's called, a large grin on his face. Yoshiki looked up with a questioning face.
Hikaru held up two crabs, playfully rubbing them against Yoshiki's face. He was quickly pushed off though he couldn't suppress his laugh. Yoshiki stared at him for a moment before looking away with a blazing flush.
"Stop that," he warned him. Hikaru couldn't help but grin a little. His laughter was still bubbling softly under the surface of his grin.
"Come on. It ain't gonna hurt ya. See?" He held the crab close to Yoshiki's face again. He chuckled when Yoshiki pulled back a little.
"Hikaru. Get that thing away from me," he blocked it with his hand.
Hikaru grinned, bringing the crab a little closer. Yoshiki's annoyance grew with each inch that crab took.
"It ain't funny Hikaru!" His voice rose until he was on his back. Hikaru was above him, laughing. "What did ya say Yoshiki?" He teased. Yoshiki's face was flushed and all he could do was look away.
"Tch... "
Yoshiki's eyes snapped open, quickly scanning the entire room. Nothing was out of place in the darkness. He sighed softly and reached for his phone.
01:35 am
Way too early for this honestly.
So he turned on YouTube and began watching cat videos. He laid there for a few hours. The room was quiet, leaving him with nothing but his thoughts.
"What's wrong wit ya" one yelled at him. "He was your best friend. How could ya think like that?" Another added bitterly, clawing onto his memories of him. "Keep yer mitts to ya self. You've already ruined everything" one last one added, reminding him not of the boy who died on the mountain but the body that returned.
He couldn't deal with this. The constant reminder that he himself shouldn't feel this way. That the village was bound to target him and try to 'heal' his illness.
"Shut up," he whispers softly to himself. It was a battle with his mind. The reminder of his mistakes.
Yoshiki. Why'd ya love me? Why don't ya understand that I don't love ya?
Yoshiki stared at his phone, pulling himself back into reality. Checking the time again it was 04:12 am. Classes are going to start soon.
"Argh," he couldn't hold back the groan bubbling from underneath. It feels like it's been years since he actually slept even though it's only been a few weeks. The past is the past, right? What happened, happened. So why is it, after four years, I can't stop myself from thinking about Hikaru. I should be fine now. Everything should be fine now. Another hour passed, a roll of fresh tears spilt. It's been so long since a single one even dropped. Not since seeing Hikaru's dead corpse. He could barely think straight.
At the time, all that came was blame. Blaming his selfishness for keeping him around. Blaming his naiveness for even allowing this thing into his life. Hikaru was harmed and cut apart because of him. If only he had let him go back to the mountains, maybe he wouldn't have been hurt. Maybe his life would be normal again.
Silence filled the space.
His phone had long turned off, leaving the room with only the light from the window. Yoshiki checked his phone one last time before tossing it aside and getting ready for the day ahead.
Time: 6:20 am
Chapter 2: And so it begins
Chapter Text
Getting ready was light work. Just taking a bath, get dressed, eat and head out. The problem, however, was everything in between.
Yoshiki forgot to iron his clothes the other night. Like anyone normal person, he began ironing them until the boiling kettle was whistling. It was sloshing and splashing water where it stood. In a rush, he ran to turn it off. He went out, got a mop and began cleaning the mess of water only to smell something burning. It was the brand new shirt he bought last month being ruined the iron. He went to pick up the iron which burnt his finger.
"FUCK!!!" he jolted at the sting. He placed the iron on the cupboard's surface and ran his finger thought water. Once that nightmare was over, he inspected the damage to his shirt. It was burnt through quiet a bit and it wasn't exactly unnoticeable. "Argh! Why did ya havta be this one?" he said to himself, throwing away the 12 000 yen shirt. Ain't no saving that thing.
He took a blue t-shirt instead. It was old and already had lost its colour but everything else he had isn't in great shape. Placing it nearly on his bed, he went off to take a bath. It was quick and easy, only taking a few minutes before he's done. He got dressed–looking a little broke– and went off to prepare food. He decided to make instant ramen cause it's simple and time isn't exactly on his side. He began to eat, scrolling away on his phone.
The time was 08:12 am and class starts at 09:00 am. He still had to grab his stuff, get Hikaru and take a 30 minute walk to class. It would be great if Hikaru just came over to fetch Yoshiki like he did in highschool. It saved him a ton of time and it forced Yoshiki to hurry up.
Already, eight minutes went by and he finally finished eating. He got up, grabbed his bag and just he was about to leave...
Hikaru was already done getting ready. He standing by the gate of Yoshiki's apartment, messaging his mates. These past few years he's gotten along with a few people in college. They were chill and the vibe they brang was similar to Yoshiki's. Speaking of Yoshiki, he still hadn't come outside yet and it's already 08:30.
"What's taking him so long?"
